Tow bar electrics

At the tow ball of my 2002 l322 there's just one wiring plug which obviously utilizes the lights indicators etc, this is Black, there is also a grey plug coming from the caravan which I assume powers the leisure battery, how big a job is it to utilize this grey plug? Hope this makes sense!!

There is a white socket in the right rear corner that the factory kit plugs into, you might find somebody like PF, Jones also have a kit thats plug and play, having fitted several tow bars for different people over the years I had a voltage sensing relay, spare socket and enough wire to make my own up.

Open the cover on the plug on the car.

Does it have 7 pins or 16 pins?

If it has 7 then you will need a different electric kit to power the fridge, charger etc in the van. If it’s 16 pin then you can get an adapter to plug in both the connectors on the caravan into the one socket.

You can probably get a new tow bar wiring loom for a reasonable price on PF Jones website then just strip out the old wiring and refit the new kit in its place. The sockets should be in place in the right rear cubby fuse panel. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Of you mean the socket on the rear of the car, then it will be 7 or 13 pins. Like below.

Here you go Steve, that would replace the lot, or you could just search for the single 12 N with ECU box, but that seems a good price to me, and you'll get all the instructions to fit it too. Thumbs Up
