England 2011 Range Rover Vogue 4.4 V8 Sumatra Black

same Epsom Metallic Green as mine Smile

doesn't actually look too bad Pete - maybe thats the answer - given that it's a work vehicle for me 90% of the time !

I offered the 21" wheel on the back this morning, blimey its big - the fixing for it will need to be pretty strong I reckon

Top mount was a heim joint bolted to 6mm plate welded to top of the wing, bottom mount was the same but bolted to the 8mm thick bumper top plate... frame was 1" box triangulated, lower tailgate was cut up and number plate indent filled in with a new steel plate... I dare say you could make a bottom mount that came off the crash bar fixings easily enough, it's a lot of work though..!!

I would like to buy a space saver wheel for my 2004 L322, I have 19" rims for my winter tyres and 21" rims for my all season Pirelli Verde tyres, if I buy a 19" space saver tyre, will it be OK for me to do this, I know that you have to pootle along at 50mph with these space saver jobbies, so it's probably OK, but just wanted some re-assurance before I buy one in the next few weeks

NB I should add that I run LPG on my petrol V8, and the LPG tank is in the spare wheel void, so currently running without a spare, which makes me a little nervous for some long trips I am planning for in the summer Smile

I have a space saver with all the surrounding mounting bits if you’d like it. It’s brand new taken out of my 2011 TDV8. I replaced it with a full sized spare as I tow and the idea of towing with a space saver was not something I was looking forward to!!

I am in Milton Keynes. Its behind the garage collecting dust so if you’d like it let me know and we can arrange for you to collect it.

Paul

You could always treat each tyre with Slime tyre sealant to deal with punctures, you wouldn't need a spare at all then.

I recently read that Slime corrodes rims. Slime deny it but there does seem to be a body of opinion that claims alloy rim damage if Slime is left in. Of course, the internet is awash with unsubstantiated claims and it can be hard to determine what is factual and what is misinformation. Ron B. VK2OTC

I spoke to a tyre fitter chap yesterday, and he does not like to repair tyres that have had Tyre Puncture Sealants used on them, in fact he just flatly refuses to do them when Slime is used, but he did say I could use HOLTS Tyreweld

you have to follow the instructions to the letter for Tyreweld to work properly, and after driving slowly for 5 or 6 miles, then pump up the tyre to normal pressure and continue your journey, until it's conveinient to get puncture repaired professionally

he told me that if I use Tyreweld, it's a lot less time consuming to clean the gunk off inside with a jet wash gun (like Karcher), and then just clean the inside walls a bit with a flappy tool, then he will happily repair the tyre with a plug, if it means salvaging a new tyre costing over £200 quid, then I think thats probably a better option for me than using Slime, or the Continental stuff that comes with newer Range Rovers in the boot

bought 2 x 500 ml cans of Tryeweld ( these are for any tyres above 17" ) , cost £7.99 each from Wilco or ECP ( Euro Car Parts) but Halfords and Tesco also sell it, albeit more expensive

with these cans of Tyreweld ( plus my little Michelin Tyre compressor in the boot ) , and the 19" spacesaver, I should be OK
