Many thanks Alistair.

Mine is slightly lower and more central. I’ll give it the "open air" test and hope that’s it. If not, I’ll relocate it as per yours.

I fitted one to my last L405 (65 plate) but they seem to have changed the design, unless iam being a thicko but I does not seem the same, any ideas guys ? Agueroooooooooo. 93-20

Hi pfazz, i notice your car is a 2019. It might be worth contacting Range Rover Warranty to ask if its OK for you to fit your own Dashcam hard wired as it might invalidate the Warranty.

I went down the road of a security system and when I mentioned Ghost I was told that this system was going to invalidate my Warranty if any fault is found to be caused by the non LR recommended system and I also had it in writing from the LR Warranty team. So I just obtained a list of recommended systems and installers and all was ok.

I believe they think the same way about hardwired dash cams fitted if its not fitted by a LR recommended installer.

If you just plug into the cigarette lighter then obviously all is OK as its not hard wired.

Just thought I would let you know what happened when I was going down this route.

Really, they invalidate the warranty for that? That doesn't sound right in accordance with consumer laws...

It's in the T&C's. Their batteries are (were?) terrible, not even sealed and only last a couple of years but we had to put another in for the same reason. MY23 Panamera E-Hybrid

Just because it is in the T&Cs doesn’t mean it’s legal and enforceable.

But to be balanced, that also works the other way around. Just because one may have consumer laws behind them that doesn’t mean it will be an easy path to get issues sorted.

So ultimate it all depends on ones risk appetite and willingness to state their claim and make it. And a little bit of common sense. For example in the case of a dashcam installation, if you then have a problem with radio dab reception and the camera wasn’t installed by Land Rover then they could rightfully suggest that you’ve invalidated that part. Just as an example.

Now that you can buy a Land Rover dash cam from JLR concerns about warranty issues should be moot, as they would be for any other approved accessory 2017 4.4 SDV8 Autobiography

Possibly. That LR Dashcam seems to be quite old tech and resolution. I have no evidence, but it seems like an entry level thinkware rebadge to me but for top of the range prices.

As an aside..

Just been browsing on PowerfulUK and they do a plug and play loom piece for the overhead console, which splits out a + and - battery feed from the loom. Which makes wiring a dash cam to the top console a lot easier. would still need a stand alone fuse I think but saves actually cutting into the loom.
