New purchase 2011 autobiography

Hello all just purchased my first Range Rover its a 2011 auto biography.
I got the chance to thoroughly inspect the car as the owner let me have access to the ramp to inspect.

All in all it's a really tidy car, the body work is in fantastic condition along with the interior just the mechanical side requires some work.

The engine and box drove smoothly and effortlessly no cloud of smoke under hard acceleration to the red line also checked the codes which there was a few so cleared and drove for 30mims to only two codes for the stereo amp this seems to operate fine so not sure on them.

There are a few items that require attention and would appreciate any help or info where best to purchase the parts from.

The list of works required.

X2 new front arms.
X1 outer cv boot.
X2 new rear shocks with the gas cannister on them.
8 speed zf service kit.
X2 rear bumper reflectors
Transfer and diff oils.
Fule filter and general service items
Also there is an oil leak from what looks to be the oil cooler area so its either new gaskets or new unit.
Also there are a few led's out on the High level brake light I'm hoping I can strip the unit and replace unless it's more serviceable to just replace the whole unit.

Kind regards

Peter

I’m assuming it’s a 4.4 diesel.

Mechanical parts such as the arms and boots, best to source OE parts. Either Delphi or Lemforder (personally would go lemforder) contact duckworthparts (site sponsor) for a price. Same for the rear reflectors.

Unless the rear shocks are completely Censored oil out then the “they all do that sir” actually holds true. A light listing of oil is pretty normal. The Adaptive dynamics shocks are quite pricey.

Gearbox oil and filter also available from Duckworths, go for the Filtran filter, as it’s what will be on the box from new and I’m sure a got an OE rather than a LR one from them when I did mine.the oil is specific lifeguard 8 though, someone did find a good online deal on here recently tho. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Thank you and yes its the 4.4 tdv8

I'll give duckworth a call tomorrow and get the parts on order hopefully they also do the gasket kit for the oil cooler.

Yes the shockers only have a light misting of oil once home ill get the car on the lift and give them a good clean down to see how much is coming out after a week or so.

Thank you

Hi and welcome to the forum.
For the oil cooler, get the two oil cooler gaskets and the O-Rings for the turbo drain. Thet should fix the leaking, but there may be other leaks from the cooling system, so check your coolant levels. Part numbers for the gaskets and O-Rings can be found from the various threads on this forum Thumbs Up Just done mine and sorted my leaks.
Also check the Plenum Intake Hoses, the four short bits of pipework that join into the the main intake on top of the engine (once you've taken the cover off, you'll see them!). If they're the original LR soft rubber ones, replace with either the upgrade kit from LR or do the silicone hose replacement. Again, plenty of threads on this forum about that... Just do a search for 'Restricted Performance'.
The 4.4TDV8 is an amazing engine and I'm sure you'll love it, so enjoy your new purchase and don't worry, the FFRR Bug will grow on you! Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

Buy all the above in genuine JLR form if i were you, 2 rear shockers leak from new so as you said, clean them and evaluate... The oil cooler has torque settings, these are important if you don't want it leaking again within a thousand miles or so Rolling Eyes Transfer box & diffs are easy and cheap to change using JLR oil, just make sure you buy the correct oil! Locking or non locking diffs... Thumbs Up

The parts pile is building up.
Yesterday changed all the front suspension arms and separate ball joints also a new outer cv boot on the front drivers side.
New reflectors in the rear bumper.
If I get time tomorrow that will be the oil cooler gaskets and O rings.

I will also be on the look out for the rear entertainment remote and head phones as mine are missing.

Today saw the oil cooler gaskets and pipe o rings replaced.
Also changed the serpentine belt tensioner.
Oil changed and all filters changed along with new coolant.
While doing the oil cooler I saw that the infamous brittle water pipe was leaking above the fan cowling so ordered a new hose set.
Absolute con though as the 4 way junction is a separate part, for £85 all in wasn't a bad price considering all the hoses in the kit.

Tonight's job was to change the inlet manifold hoses.
Decided to go with silicone 4ply hose just down to personal experience with using this on other builds and never had a single problem.
70MM I/D hose, all 4 cut to 57mm, the fitment of the 70mm pipe is perfect a fair bit tighter than the originals so gives a really good seal.

Also changed out the rear high level brake light looks far better now.

Todays little job was to replace the drivers main speaker with a new genuine one.
It now sounds great.
