Scotland 2014 Range Rover Vogue SDV6 Santorini Black

Well, after one of our little men had an accidental mishap with a pair of scissors on the driver’s door today, said door will be going into the body shop this week. Can’t have anything! As they say Big Cry

Got ours back from the body shop today.

That'll be the driver's door re-sprayed twice now in 12 months for entirely different reasons - last year because some selfish, arrogant Censored in a Tesla illegally parked, smacked their door into ours when alighting and made off; and this latest one because a wee one accidentally caught the paint when walking past with a pair of scissors... all good again though... and breathe

Still, s'pose it's only a poverty spec TDV6 Vogue so not really worth bothering about Wink Laughing

Excellent Stan. Same place as last time. That’s why I told the wee fella to damage the door, so we could use him again 😂 Thumbs Up

Nice to read your updates Ryan, especially your experiences with the 3.0l engine.
My ‘plan’, if all is well next year, is to start looking seriously at them, with a view to replacing my trusty old l322, which is still serving me well.

What real world fuel consumption figures do you get? I must say, the road tax for the 3.0l is also much more appealing than for the 4.4l.

It’s a brilliant car and a brilliant engine @alanm Thumbs Up

Had it over 3 years now and can’t fault it. It’s a Vogue as you know ‘but’ a well spec’d one. Our last L322 was a Vogue too and it was also a lovely car.

Looked for months for an L405 4.4 VSE and/ or AB. None of them were a patch on this one, condition wise, by comparable age and mileage; and as this was so well spec’d I test drove it to see what the 3.0 TDv6 was like to drive... and loved it... and still do Thumbs Up

I’ll go and check what the average reading on the trip computer says and report back... it’ll definitely be a true real word reading as we never even give it a thought 😂 Thumbs Up

Trip computer today shows 32.5mpg.

Can’t remember when the trip computer was last reset. We did a 970 mile Scotland/ England trip last month over several days on a combination of motorways, A roads, town and country driving. The rest is just local trips laced with the odd motorway run. Car has averaged 10,000 miles/ year whilst we have owned it. Thumbs Up

Thanks for the info Ryan, that’s a decent figure to base decisions on.

I know what you mean about a high spec Vogue, although it does surprise me when the original owner specs a “lesser” model in the range that takes it beyond what the equivalent higher model has as standard, but hey, that’s folk for you and you benefit from it second time around. Thumbs Up

Thanks again Ryan.

Well... the car is now with the main dealer for its annual service and also the scheduled fitting of the cam belt/ front and rear belts. Quoted main dealer cost for all of this including parts is £1170... I do actually have all of the belts/ parts required for the ‘belts work’ but... they wanted over £1200 labour for the belts etc alone (and the service would have been extra) even if I’d supplied the genuine LR belt parts... and so it was cheaper to run with the £1170 combined service and belts quote!

So now I have almost 500 quids worth of new LR belts and associated parts that are no use to me 🙄

Wow, that’s spendy.

I had the same done on my 2.7 D4, similar job as far as I know done by my local garage. It’s the rear fuel pump timing belt which is the tricky one afaik. Not sure how tricky it is on the 405 but our general garage managed to do it and it was nowhere near £1200 in labour! There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜
