Haven't tried it. Rather expensive. It would mean pairing the phone to it and for me I prefer my phone pairing to the car's system. Might suit others though. John

Just read the entire thread, great stuff everyone! Tempted to buy one, a couple of questions first:

Does the CD changer still work?

Does it work with RSE? (I've seen a couple of people ask this in the thread but not seen an answer)

What happens if I put it in reverse? Does it still show the reversing camera? If so, on stock system or navtool? (the wife wants the car to not become 'annoying' when normal functions just don't work because of an 'upgrade' lol)

There are 2 models listed on the website, one for $300 odd and the other for $500 odd. Which have people on here been buying and what is the difference? I am an android user.

I have a 55 plate 4.2 SC with RSE.

Cheers

Yes, the CD changer still works.

RSE: haven’t tried it, but in theory on the RSE you’d just select Aux as your source and would hear that audio. Not sure you could send video to the headrests but maybe someone else can advise on that one.

Reverse cam works as normal; overrides navtool on the screen then goes back to normal once driving forwards again.

I paid for one that was on offer at the time but stated a ‘normal’ price of $549.99. Can’t remember what the difference is I’m afraid.

The system works in parallel with the original system in the car which remains fully functioning.

Effectively you toggle between the two systems using the NAV button on the headunit. The only other thing you have to do is, as said, select Aux on the audio screen. If you toggle back to the original remember to switch back to CD.

When you press and hold the NAV button the screens shows the two options of ON Road Navigation and OFF Road Navigation. Continue to hold the NAV button and the Navtool screen pops up.

To install you splice into the leads to the connectors on the Navigation DVD unit and I obtained some of the plugs for the unit from a member on here who was breaking the car. I got him to keep the longest leads to the plugs he could as it made soldering/splicing into them much easier. Otherwise you are working with a short tail on the plugs which is more awkward you are connecting into the loom which runs back into the car with not much spare.

Obviously not impossible but if you can source some second hand navigation DVD plugs it is worth while. (Hope that is understandable)

I (and MOH!!) am very pleased with the system as it brings it more up to date. John

Hi ctjfb can you please inform me what other cables you had to purchase and what one s you purchased. Also do i need to install the microphone in order for it to all work properly.
If I want the mirroring to work do i need an HDMI cable?

Just to answer your microphone question, I haven't fitted it. Its primary use would be for voice controlling your phone and, as MoH is the controller of everything when in the car I didn't bother Very Happy .

It transforms the experience. I have waze, Spotify on screen. If you get a text it will read it out to you.

The original in car hands free works fine in parallel for phone calls. You can have an HDMI cable or use a dongle connected directly. Again it's something I haven't troubled to do. If you get an HDMI cable it just needs to be long enough to reach your phone and you will need an adapter for your phone. John

If you don't use the hdmi cable how do you mirror the phone on the screen.
Thanks

There is also an USB outlet which mirrors the phone. It leaves the HDMI clear for Firesticks and the like.

I haven't bothered with the HDMI. The USB works perfectly. Mine in use:

Stan,

the problem is they have never installed this before so they are unsure as to what is wrong as it works inconsistently. I got in the vehicle today worked fine. Got out when got back in it didn't work right away then it worked.

I would think they need to redo the connections. It isn't a highly technical job to do. As Stan says, it rather points to connection problems.

Also, the quality of the leads is important.

When I was doing mine I disconnected everything a couple of times as there were some, minor, problems.

What are you using, the USB or the HDMI?

what do you mean the reversing is working intermittently? John
