2010MY Keys - deleting all previous

Specifically for a 2010 or later model year, the GAP IIDtool can add a new key and show how many keys are coded and in range of the car, but doesn't seem to be able to delete an old key (there are instructions for this in the manual but it's specific to <2010 cars).

I only have one key and will be using the IIDTool to add another, but my car tells me it knows of 3 keys (only one of which is in my posession!)

Obviously I'd like to delete those two other keys if possible, how?

It sounds like maybe 4 keys is the limit, so maybe if I buy 3 spare keys and code them all I'll fill up all the slots and those other 2 keys will be forgotten about? Any ideas? Smile

Couple of topics to check on pre-2010 keys and coding if you've found this looking for <2010 vehicle info;

That's a question I'd like answered too. I got only one key with my FF, a 2012 Westie, and used the IID Tool to add a new key for SWMBO. I'd like to be able to delete any other keys in the system, just for peace of mind.

The procedure using my xtool was that it removes all keys first, and then adds the new keys. Always scares me in class I’m left with no working keys. 🤣 But as that tool can read the security codes of as good as any vehicle it’s ok. I wonder whether GAP IID does the same.

Is your car a 2010MY?

The Gap tool has different procedures for different years (2010MY has no ignition slot, so the process is different).

I did try the procedure and it seems to just add keys (which is what it says in the instructions for the tool, specifically saying it doesn’t remove keys).

It may be a quirk of the 2010MY vehicles that keys cannot be removed :/

Well, you're correct on all counts

You've identified the years that there are differences for

IID will allow you to add for your car

IID will not allow you to delete for your car (it's not capable)

You want a tool that can -- SDD I would suggest Smile Current: 2011 FFRR Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

Shame you are in Barcelona. Otherwise I could use my xtool to remove them for you Smile Great gadget covering nearly every car on the market.

Doh! This is a rather odd thing for it not to be able to do :\

What is SDD?

Thanks!

Double doh!

I'm amazed the IIDTool can't do it as it seems to have pretty full access for everything else Censored

Oh well, at least I should be able to get garage to do it for me if I can find one with a tool that does it Smile

Garages would commonly get a (automotive) locksmith for that, unless using a dealer with dealer tools and prices. As such you may want to reach out to a locksmith.

Patrick @ GAP confirmed this isn't possible with the IIDTool right now, only adding can be done.

Looks like I'll need to find an automotive locksmith then Sad

*EDIT* He also confirmed it's not something they're interested in adding as it's too dangerous. I guess because you have to have another key within range, deleting them all could leave you entirely locked out of the car.

I really don't like the idea of there being two other keys out there that can open my car, so I'll definitely look to get this done ASAP!

Ah, looks a trip to a stealer perhaps then, I can see some other "VXDIAG" tools which seem to say they can reprogram keys but again, could be like the IIDTool and it only adds rather than deleting.

Think I may just save myself the hassle and go to the dealer/locksmith Sad
