TD6 turbo

Hi all

Silly question but how do I know that my turbo is working?

Before I had my vacuum pipe problem I used to be able to hear my turbo whisking away happily. Now I don’t hear the whistle , fuel consumption has gone from 25mpg down to 18mpg and a sucking noise from the off side og the engine bay.

Any TD6 gurus out there?

Jim

Have you seen the turbo actuator actually moving? I think I am correct that it goes through a test cycle at startup. You can view it move from above. Have you inspected the boost hose from the turbo to the intercooler? I suppose it is possible that whilst the vacuum hose was off the variable vanes would obviously not be moving and have stuck in the open position. on the back of the inlet manifold is a boost pressure sensor. ensure it is plugged in, also a good idea to remove the sensor and give it a good clean  2007 TDV8 VSE
