Changed battery - car won't turn over!

Hi guys,

Car is an L322, 2009, 3.6 TDV8

I've made a monumental error. I accidentally put the new battery in the wrong way round.. connected up and lots of sparks, all the electrics went haywire! Headlight washers, windscreen washers, horn, the lot.

Battery in the right way round.. car locks & unlocks, interior lights come on but the car won't start. Doesn't even want to turn over.

Assuming immobiliser issue?

I have checked all the little fuses in the boot, glovebox and engine bay - 3 blown in the glovebox, replaced but still no luck starting the engine.

Any help really appreciated.

And yes, I realise how much of an idiot I have been!!

Many thanks

Have you tried the battery re-set in the WIKI?

Just an update to say that I have replaced the mega fuse in the positive battery terminal and the car now works! (Minus the heater control panel)

Just stumbled across this, you are dead lucky you didn't fry the car.

Halfords did this to a friend of mine's van and it needed a new loom and several ECU's

Shocked Shocked Shocked

Sounds like you were very lucky there. If the heater control panel supply fuse is ok, then you may have fried the unit, fairly sure it is similar to mine, the unit ( control panel )has a built in PCB board that controls all functions, that could be kaput. If that is the case, used units are easy to find on the net.

As the car now starts, one assumes that you will have given yourself a good 'talking to' Rolling with laughter
