Running boards

HI,

The rear portion of my running board collapsed under my weight the other day. it seems that it had filled with water and corroded!

The supporting struts to attach it to the car are still in place and seem sturcy. Can i replace just the boards without removing the struts, and where can I get some decent running boards

Car's an 02 vogue td6

most aftermarket boards [ebay] are patterned on the genuine landrover ones so in theory they should be a straight swop...i would anticipate some fettling though.. ... - .- -.

You need to do a search for Side Steps to get tons of info.

A recent thread here.

Good job you don’t want the genuine Land Rover ones then.

£626 factory option

Or £986 if you want factory ones to fit yourself.....

Don’t buy the cheapest.... but then there is no need to go mad 🤣

I fitted a set of pattern ones to mine I'm sure they were around £170.00.

They are not exactly the same as the original ones where the silver strip around the edge is darker and plastic also they take some time squaring up with alignment, but other than that they are perfectly fine.

I undersealed the new ones to help prolong the life span.

I bet it is the near side board that collapsed?

I have OEM on my 2007. My near side collapsed a couple of weeks ago. After ringing around a lot of places to try and find a replacement, I was advised to speak to"Side Steps UK". I checked the website and got on the phone to them. They agreed to just sell me the one side I needed. It matched the original pretty closely. See my post on it, with pics.

£150, old removed, new fitted all done in about 15 minutes, in the West Mids.

I bought these recently and fitted them last weekend.

Personally am very pleased with them.

Had previously bought the aftermarket Range Rover style side steps, but was disappointed in the poor quality and plastic edging and never fitted them.

These steps are solid aluminium apart from the two sturdy end caps. 2012 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE Current

Got this done just in time for MOT. Still failed the MOT quite miserably due to corrosion on the suspension. I'm waiting on the full report.
