Tv upgrade and android

Good morning. Is there a digi tv upgrade for my 2002 with fac nav? Failing that as I’d like Bluetooth also, what are your recommendations for android head units? Thanks

Best I can advise is reading this Site. I-Bus App and Ressler Interface together with a Xtrons Headunit is what I had in my 2004 FF. Before that I was for more than one year on a try and error dead-end road.

Or you can stay factory and fit a BMW hybrid tv unit from a slightly later BMW, and your tv will then work.

Again, from a BMW, fit a ULF module and get Bluetooth phone connectivity. It won’t play music from your phone unless you have a lead to the BM54 unit in the boot, but you would make calls etc from steering wheel. All like factory. BMW did it on the system but they sold Land Rover by then, so RR never got it.

Or there are companies that will fit the options to your existing units in the boot, again, all factory.

That won’t however give you a higher res screen etc, like an android unit would, and all the newer options it has etc.

So depends which route you prefer.

I put the BMW units in my TD6 when I had it, and sold them on to people on this forum when I sold the car.

And if you like your music, the amp upgrade is brilliant.

Mjdronfield. Thanks. What units should I search for. It’s an occasional/hobby vehicle so I can’t really be bothered with the android unit. Yet!

These are the tv modules.... straight swap...

BMW ULF module....

There are loads of info on this forum about the ULF if you search. You will need to repin a connector in the rear of the car, and need a Bluetooth antenna and a microphone.

It needs to look like the below. Seems the later you can get the better. If it says MIT SES on the label, it will also give you voice command option, over the cars info system, not just the phone. There is one with that on eBay but it’s in Lithuania....

Here is one without voice

Antenna.... you will need to check your car to see if the cables are there already. Do a search on here, as it’s been covered a few times. Don’t really want to repeat it all.

Some BMW upgrade options here too....

You should have one already, in the left hand compartment in the boot.

The original one is analog only though, so of course won’t work now.

Existing unit in the car will look exactly the same.

What car you got mate? Fill in your car profile when you get chance.

The modules linked will only fit the earlier non touch screen cars, running the BMW infotainment system, but you prob realised that.

Cool. Sorted then. I kept my old unit and put it back in when I traded the car. Sold the hybrid tv unit on.
