United Kingdom 2012 Range Rover Autobiography TDV8 Baltic Blue

Interesting to read your comments about Snow Foam.

I’m just about to place an order for stuff on cleanmycar.co.uk and have been looking at the vast array of each product.

Must admit, it’s handy working from home these days as I can have it all put away before the wife comes home from work and she’ll not know it’s been delivered. Just as well as my current basket is sitting at a touch over 200 quid. Rolling Eyes

Windscreen Scratch

Recently broke a windscreen wiper blade clip whilst cleaning the car (as I was trying to lift the arm/ blade off the windscreen it slipped out of my hand and thudded back down on to the screen causing a clip to snap). The result was the blade (less than 12 months old) was slipping out of its housing when the wipers were in use. Whilst waiting for the new blades to arrive, the damaged blade has been used and has and has caused arc shaped scratch on the passenger side of the LR windscreen. You can see and feel the scratch (very fine) with your finger nail. Not a chip or mark on the screen apart from that. So annoying...

See if you can get it poilished out Ryan, jewellers rouge might be a good place to start, but I’m sure there are folks out there who can sort it without pulling the screen out.

Indeed there are.... https://www.glaswelduk.com/ in the “scratch repair” button. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

This weekend, used Meguiars compound on every panel followed by their polish and then liquid wax. Until using the compound you got that “gritty feel” sensation when running your hand across clean panels (mainly to the lower areas of the wings, doors and front side vents). Feels more like glass to the touch again. Would like to try new polishes now though. Meguiars is decent but seems to have it’s limitations, so thoughts other than AG SRP welcome...

Also gave the leather seats and interior a deep clean with Woolite, warm water and a microfibre cloth. Came up like new and really does eradicate that blue dye staining look you can get with ivory leather seats.

And... noticed a wee stone chip type blemish on one of the diamond cut spokes and so, dropped a drop of LR touch up stick lacquer over it to hopefully seal it and stop any degradation because of the chip...

👍🏻

Well, the RR is off this week for what has become its annual trip to the Bodyshop:

2019 - a selfish ‘hit and run’ individual opened a Tesla car door onto the front passenger door;
2020 - a little cherub caught the driver’s door whilst walking past with a pair of scissors in hand (tight space/ genuine accident by an unwitting wee one); and
2021- another not so little one cut through to the metal on the rear driver’s side door with bike handlebars whilst removing a bike from the garage (worn grips exposing metal handlebars and getting the bike out quickly was deemed more important than time and care Banging Head

The moral of the story seems to be that public car parks and home garage parking are dangerous and expensive places to park!

Had this one for over 4 years now… it has been brilliant/ still is… however, recently been drawn to online browsing for 2018MY ‘shape’… cost to change doesn’t really appeal though, given there’s nowt up with ours and there will be an even newer ‘shape’ soon…

Aye Stan, the dreaded Asda rash 😂

Before we bought it from the MD, the rear bumper had an imperfection. They agreed to put it in their body shop to “re-do the full bumper.” Recently started to notice very slight peeling lacquer at the point where the paintwork meets the plastic trim at the rear of the back bumper “shelf”. So, whilst the car is in having the door re-done, it’s having the rear bumper off to get done again and finished properly…

Laughing Erm… no.

We use a trusted local, no frills father and son Bodyshop now who specialise in quality repairs of quality cars of the vintage and modern varieties.

At the point of selling, based on the content of the past few posts, it will be a struggle to claim the RR’s paintwork is original… what can you do…

Thumbs Up

Well, the TDv6 has covered well over 80k miles now… we’ve covered about 41k miles in our 4.5 year ownership period to date… hasn’t missed a beat during that time. It’s also very good on fuel… still looks fresh inside and out. That’s the most mileage/ longest we’ve had a RR so it must be doing something right, although it now seems like quite high mileage to me as we’ve not had a one with that sort of mileage before… 😂

TDv6 rumours haven’t spoiled this ownership experience… 👍🏻

Better the devil you know Ryan. If you are still happy with it then why change it.

Man next door to me has just swapped his 20 plate SVO for a 71 plate one which to my eyes, is identical apart from the wheels. Aparently he got a good price for the 20……

I’m not one to change cars regularly, and I’ve had most of my cars on average for 5years, so only another 3 to go with this one! There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜
