Sounds expensive

This morning my 2010 L322 3.6 diesel developed a rattling noise which I can only describe as coming from behind the fan
Any ideas chaps?
Would it be a timing issue?
And do I need to sell a kidney ?
Motor has done abou 130,000 miles.

It’s a diesel they make rattling noises 🤷‍♂️😬

Other than that, how long is a piece of string. It could be as simple as a bolt that is loose on the cowel.

It could be one of the pulley belt tensioners starting to fail. Mine made a ticking noise when they started to go, getting them looked at and replaced as we speak.

It was the water pump pulley, and belt, the bolts in the pulley had failed.
40 quid repair, kidneys intact.
Thanks for the advice chaps Thumbs Up

I must admit I’m impressed with myself to diagnose loose bolts remotely.
