They should move to magnesium - even lighter and more burnable!

Wouldn't you know it, I posted the above missive, then the next post I read was Beemergriff's fatty for sale. There in the boot of his fatty is a fire extinguisher. Thumbs Up It had to bloody happen, immediately after uploading my post, perfect sodding timing Thud

Every one of my cars has an extinguisher fitted, My kitchen at home has two & a blanket!

I had a bonfire this weekend to get rid of some brambles my wife has pulled out, well when I say some! Shocked LOADS! I had a large bucket of water close to hand just in case!

Why am I so paranoid/safety conscious? I work a lot on my own, I'm self-employed and if I don't work, I don't earn! So I can't afford mistakes! Simples... Thumbs Up

We used to turn some magnesium parts until the machine got consumed by fire. It does burn quite well. We did try to put it out, but had to wait for the red engine to come.

Looking at the RRS in the background, it looks fairly unscathed. Given how melted the Defender is, I’m guessing it’s the Defender that caught fire.

Aluminium melts well, doesn’t it!

Agree totally with CTC. I have an extinguisher in my fattie, one in the caravan and one in the house.👍🏻 If the Mrs car catches fire.....well that is a fiat so no harm no foul... There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Whilst I did have an extinguisher in my car in case of life being endangered, if the car was on fire and everyone was out I'd leave it to burn, there's no point at all endangering yourself, the car is insured. BMW i3 Electric Car

On the way to work this morning I passed a burnt out 405 in a lay-by. We have been having a debate at work today on how it came to be.

We couldn’t think who would steal a FF then set it on fire, put it in a container to Eastern Europe maybe, take it to a chop shop possibly, but steal for a joy ride to only set it on fire?? That seems a fair bit of effort for a joyride There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

How about a 3.0 with a noisy crank that has “accidentally” went on fire?

Cam-Tech-Craig - I am on the same page there, no work or money if I am injured.

House - 2 dry powder extinguishers, fire blanket and first aid kit.

Garage - DP fire extinguisher, fire blanket and eye wash station

All cars - DP extinguisher warning triangle, Hi-vis vest(s) and first aid kit.

On the continent, in some countries they are more strict, ie Germany where you have to have a first aid kit AND all sell by dates of stuff in kit has to comply with regs.

Police stopped me to check my Navara, during a German tour, because I had entered a city without displaying an emissions sticker. They saw all my stuff, jokingly told me I was very well prepared considering that I was an 'Island monkey' and let me off a 90 euro fine if I promised to buy the sticker the next morning. Mind you, trying my best to speak to them in German also seemed to earn me brownie points. Thumbs Up

Cass - that thought did actually occur to me. Looks like it was a 3.0.... there was one wheel left so had a glance at the calliper this morning There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Got a better look and it’s not a 3.0, it’s a 4.4, so the seized engine theory is probably out.

Not much left though!

Looking at the main photo, the other vehicle looks relatively undamaged.

Will they have be a 'Fire sale' with discounts? Rolling with laughter
