These two are afterwards, didn’t take any befores of the bonnet... not the greatest images but they show a good finish:

This is quite a good example of the type of marring that was on the car - not a good
look when the sun hits it; and all after my hand compounding efforts of last week 🙄

And this is what the paintwork looks like in sunlight now. The results with this polisher are pretty effortless (apart from a sore back and knees from the posture required to negotiate the panels) and pretty spectacular results too tbh. Well pleased:

Well, the ongoing results are great. However, today, an orange coloured Country Lake foam cutting pad exploded whilst being used with Farecla G3 on a quite badly contaminated (bird droppings) roof of a car other than the RR... interestingly, I’d put the polisher speed up to the max of 6 about a minute before said loud bang and bits of orange foam raining down... an unexpected phenomenon Shocked

Tried it again this morning on the bonnet, this time using a different technique learnt from a you tube video and also used a foam cutting pad instead of a MF cutting pad:

Looks like a stunning result, any chance of a link to the video and what compounds/polishes did you use? BMW i3 Electric Car

AJGalaxy,

The 23 minute video is on YouTube and is entitled:
How to polish a car with a DA polisher DAS6 pro for Beginners

So far, have used Lake Country orange coloured foam cutting pad with Meguiars compound on it, followed by a Lake Country black coloured Microfibre finishing pad with Meguiars polish on it. Time consuming but once you’ve seen that video, all easy enough to do and not difficult to achieve pleasing results if your paintwork is in half decent order to start with.

I’ve just picked the car off by polishing for an hour a day here and there. Fortunately, we’re able to keep it under cover whilst I pfaff about doing all this. Only got the roof left to machine polish really.

Was to put Meguiars liquid wax on all of it yet and maybe some C2 ceramic coating... but it all takes too much time.

Must be a creature of habit. Sticking with what has worked, today ordered more Lake Country polishing pads (1 orange for cutting, 1 green for polishing and 1 black for finish waxing), plus new bottles of Meguiars ultimate compound and ultimate polish... wish had tried Hex logic pads or Scholl products or poor boys products or whatever but... if it’s not broken Whistle
