Wow. That is a crazy price.

Why would anyone pay that when even in the Netherlands you can get on for less than half that asking price. They hover around just 10K Euros there. Same in Germany.

Its the tax on them when you try to import one, Portugal puts its own rules into the eu laws and gets fined every year from the eu, its cheaper for them to pay the fine

As a new resident you can import one vehicle duty free but not allowed to sell for 6 months.

First year road tax was 915e but they crumbled on that court case with the eu and now its 480e, still waiting for my refund though

As others have said don't assume the millage will get you away from any issues.
I got mine, an 07 SC last June for just under 10K. 3 previous owners, first for 8 years.

Very clean looking car, drove well etc.
I had the drivers airbag fail so I have replaced both front struts. Parts were circa £500 (Island 4x4) and changed myself.
I want to get the gearbox properly done with the replacement of the rubber seals etc, currently deciding best way forward with this.

And its currently sat on the drive with a suspected alternator failure which looks like a fun job

For that kind of money I would be wanting the 5.0l with the timing chains done tbh 07 4.2 Supercharged

Hehehe another overblown item; the timing chain guides on the 5.0SC. The amount of time I see people say that. Sure it can happen, and possibly it will. But ultimately anything will fail at some point. Once does not go an replace everything prematurely everywhere. To me it’s a thing perpetuated on forums. Just like the Porsche and BMW V8 engines that “will” loose their lining. Or Navara bottom end that will blow up the engine. Or BMW M2 crankshaft that will break and so on.

Indeed it could be overblown and when you research any car there is usually some "known problems".
However from what I read (which is all you can do) as the cars are hitting around 100k it gets a lot more likely this issue may occur.

For me it was either find a 5L that had it done and pay top money for the year/millage etc or buy one at a lower price based on the potential 3k hit of sorting the chains. But I found what seemed to be a good 4.2 and got that instead

To me it is not good value and very expensive, BUT -
There are people who have small collections and like classics / future classics, for occasional use and keep them tucked away. The classic market now is all about originality, quite often above most other factors. So this one would be perfect for them as it's not been meddled with, no extra expense, only maintenance to deal with.

The sticker price is usually a negotiating start point anyway. I have a sneaky suspicion that it will not sit at the dealer for too long, as already said by others - Find another one this good, AND in that colour, and at that mileage engine issues should not be a problem.

Would be interesting reading further if a site member buys it.

It’s a rather unique colour combination. Would be good for 101 dalmatians 🤣

But seems to be priced to sell in the current market. To make it look nice I think the roof needs to become black, as do the mirrors and grille, and the wheels need to be 22”.

But then there is still that interior as the interior roof lining is not black. To me it’s very odd and I think that is reflected in the price. So good if you like it. But costly to put right if you don’t.

Blackdog, you are right about the 101 Dalmations comment. That motor does have a rather strange colour combo, but as for black roof lining ?
