Electric Bike Rack and no towbar

Hi,

We have decided to buy two electric bike (each weights 24 kg).
I'd like to be able to transport them easily.

I have no pre-installation on my L322 2010 Supercharged.

What is the best way to go?
Have LR install the deployable tow bar or are there any better installations ?

Thanks.
Cedric.

The LR rack that bolts into the tow bar armature is quite sturdy, but you'd need to check weight limits. Because you have to lift the bicycle to locate the frame on the arms of the carrier and then secure the frame and the wheels to stop them spinning, one tends to need lots of straps and it is not as convenient as some other kinds. But some of the lower level ones with a clamp (like the LR Accessory one for the 405) have weight limits that might be a problem, the two bicycle one for the 405 for example would be too low a limit for your two bicycles. Only Range Rovers since 1988

Craig - it is a rack for an electric bike, not an electric rack for a bike! Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter

Unfortunately you are going to need to firstly fit a towbar and then buy a tow bar mounted rack.

I have a 3 bike Thule rack (923 IIRC) that clamps to the tow ball and is rated to 51kg of bikes. Others that use the receiver hitch (square hole) may have a higher capacity again.

Personally I wouldn't want to transport an ebike without its weight being carried by its own wheels.

Fitting the tow bar assembly is relatively straight forwards if you are handy with the spanners but you might need to check the legality of doing it yourself as in the UK you cannot on recent vehicles. Bish.

Hi,
not an Off the Shelf fix but you could adapt a Motorbike carrier that bolts to the flange fitting Question

you still need a towbar frame fitting first with the fixed or removable bar design, the bikes would then sit on their wheels as mentioned already, its how a carry my trials bike

Thumbs Up
