:censored: ... an oil leak

I took my 2014 SDV8 into the franchise dealer for a "Health Check" prior to a extended warranty inspection. Usual stuff I expected for suspension arms and bushes. However they also found an oil leak, "quite a bad" oil leak I think were his words.

So having experianced and repaired an oil leak on my L322 TDV8 I wasn't too concerned assuming it maybe the same issue. The oil cooler line at the top left rear of the engine, fiddly but very dooable.

However I've just looked under the bonnet and it looks like a much more involved task then on the previous L322.

Is this likely to be the culprit ? I know it could be one of many potential oil leaks but is this still an issue on the L405 ??

If so is it still a home mechanic task ?

Thanks

Rr

Back to the dealer sir, your rights are:-

"Between 30 days and 6 months
If a fault comes to light after 30 days but before 6 months you’re entitled to a repair, replacement or refund.

It’s assumed in law that the fault was present at the time of purchase unless the seller can prove otherwise.
Unless you’ve agreed otherwise, the seller (dealer) has only one opportunity to repair (or replace) the faulty vehicle after which, if they fail to repair it, you’re entitled to a refund.
In the event of a refund following a failed attempt at repair during the first six months the seller may make a 'reasonable' adjustment to the amount refunded to take account of the use that you’ve had of the vehicle." BMW i3 Electric Car

Now thats a route I could explore. The dealer is over 100 miles from home but I could certainly engage and see what they say.

In the meantime if its easily rectified then I'd probably just fix it.

I know what you mean with regards to doing the job yourself BUT it may potentially affect any future issues that you may experience. It may be a worth contacting them and suggest that they may like you to use a local independent at their expense rather than them collecting the car, doing the work and returning it etc. BMW i3 Electric Car

If its just the O ring at the rear I'll do it myself, that siad on the L405 it looks like the windscreen wipers have to come off ! There's no easy ish way to see it that's the problem.
