Correct position - RR boot lettering?

Ordered new Powerful UK silver RR bonnet and boot lettering to replace marred existing boot lettering. Comes with a decent templatešŸ‘šŸ»

https://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/topic59781.html

On measuring the existing position of the boot letters before removal, noted that the distance between the outer edge of the tailgate lid to the 1st R on ā€œRANGEā€ isnā€™t the same distance when compared to the outer edge of the tailgate lid to the last R in ā€œROVERā€. The distance to one R is 24cms whereas the distance to the other R is 25 cms. Obviously, never noticed before butā€¦

Question:

1. Should the distance from passenger tailgate edge to the first letter R and the distance from the driverā€™s tailgate edge to the last letter R be the same, e.g. approx 25cms each side?

Thanks Thumbs Up

Job doneā€¦ lightly used a pencil eraser to get the remnants of the residue from the old lettering tape off the paintwork; then washed the relevant panel with shampoo; then used the DAS Pro to apply compound before polishing the panel where the lettering goes (easily came up like new with no trace of where the ā€˜oldā€™ letters had been); then an alcohol wipe and finally set about sticking on the template before positioning the new letters.

Even with the template, it would be possible to make a Horlicks of the lettering task because the template isnā€™t ā€˜rigidā€™ as such and you could end up with letters out of line. Went okay though and think theyā€™re lined up well.

Tbh, having done it now, had I a template to start with, would probably just have removed the ā€˜old lettersā€™ sprayed them good as new (which wouldnā€™t be difficult) and stuck them back on with me double sided tape.

The ā€˜oldā€™ tailgate letters are now cleaned off and boxed up waiting for a re-spray on a rainy day! šŸ‘šŸ»
