Yes on the face of it looks like you got away with that!!! - Time will tell

Some of you may remember after searching and begging, as mine was that bad I had to have (what was left) of mine cut out and new ones welded in from another range rover.

Whole job ended up costing £1100 with paint and materials from 3 different places

1 cut out the part (breakers)
1 welded the new panels in (mot garage)
Another prepped & painted as he had no interest in dealing with all that rust :p

SoggyBottoms - Would be good to the guy that worked on your cars details up here. providing the rust is tackled early enough. He’ll be in for good business if he wanted to keep doing them 👍

yep. I hope he got it all.
I saw some in progress piccies which showed he chopped back harshly then fabbed new sills himself before painting
I guess he's on his Christmas hols
I know he isn't looking for work. he was telling me he had a job list until april

More likely to get an early car rust free than the later... LR obviously cut cost and quality in either the metals or treatment when manufacturing leaving out or using low quality rust prevention primers and paint on the L322 some where around 2008/9

Wonder if that timing fits with BMW/Ford/Tata ownership of JLR?

I bought these but the guy didn't use them so they were sitting in my shed until someone decided to put them out for recycling.

free to a good home. first to collect gets them for a donation to the site.

Mine has just failed its MoT for this.
Did your chap agree to having his details passed on and roughly how much did it cost? PM if you prefer.
I need to take the decision on whether to repair and sell the beast as spares.

My 3 day old 2012 is pretty scary underneath - wish I’d looked harder. Taking it to my garage for a full inspection but I’ve no idea how it passed an MOT without even an advisory. Bodywork and interior are mint and drives like new. Just can’t believe a 9 yr old car can rust this much….. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

potential MOT fail - the tester said that he wasn't sure about the jacking points as they were covered.
dropped it back to the Chap and he found this

waiting for an update. the cill works still seems to be holding up nearly 4 yrs later

I think the guy is trying to split hairs, that jacking point is incorporated into the sill, the rust holes to the left in one of the pictures are through the sill, to do the job properly the first time all that part of the sill should have been removed and replaced and then injected with anti rust....

That looks to me like it hasn't been done properly in the first place, if that was a new piece of sill there is no way it would have rusted through in two years even if it had been left unpainted... That looks like the original sill that has been sanded and filled to "look" good, the only way to get rid of rust is to cut out back to clean non rusty steel, this just hasn't been done....!!!

IMHO the guy is doing a poor job, I suggest you get someone else to look at it and not just spend more money with this guy....

Controversial I know, but I had to say something.... Pete
