I noticed an oil drip on my drive when I removed the under trays they were covered in oil . Also noticed oil near near side turbo drivers side was dry. Took car to independent RR garage with great reputation. Was informed I need two new turbos although car was running fine. I have been quoted approx 7k for work . I was also advised I could drive car as long as I didn’t thrash it while I’m waiting for it to go in (2 months) would be grateful for any comments or advice

I'd give it a good clean up with brake cleaner, drive it for a week or so then inspect it again to see where the oil is coming from. Kev

When I bought my L322 4.4 TDV8 the paperwork from the last MD service came with it. There was an "advisory" that the N/S turbo needed changing as it was leaking oil. 5 years and over 80K miles later it is still leaking oil. I've never needed to top the oil up and it has never got any worse.
£7k would make me see if I could live with the problem or see if it gets any worse.

I believe that on the L405, changing turbos require the engine to come out. This is probably why it is so expensive. You might find an independent who would do the job for less than £7k as most of the cost will be in labour hours. Current:

As long as the leak isnt internal and making it's way to the outside, IF this is the case it's a ticking bomb for the engine running away when it uses it's own oil as fuel. Be sure where the leak is if youre going to keep running it. BMW i3 Electric Car
