Adjusting soft close doors

Both of my rear doors have tempremental soft close ability, one side worse than the other but neither work consistently.

I think it's just an adjustment thing, the system doesn't seem to realise the doors are half latched.

Question I have is...what exactly am I supposed to adjust? Has anyone done this successfully?

found this in an old thread,

intentionally close the door so that it does not fully close/ seat. Then apply pressure on door handle towards the car as if you are pushing the door inward. The soft close will kick in and close the door. ... - .- -.

The soft close is a motor in the bottom of the door… How it works and how you adjust it I’m not sure? Changed a few that had failed but have never been asked to adjust one… Cant be that difficult though!

Remove the door card and look in the bottom of the door and you’ll find said motor on an 18” cable assembly… 👍

Thanks, this does work to make it kick in, but is not an adjustment of any sort, you have to do this every time...

Got it, I will have a look. Maybe the cable is stretched or something.
