L322 Suspension Calibration

Hi all,

I`ve been checking the forum but I still have some doubts about suspension and OBD tools and hope you can help me

My car (It`s been with me three weeks and nearly 100 miles) all suspension works ok (I had to clear the famous suspension dryer brass cone exhaust je je) and since then everything seems ok (I don´t get any errors)

the thing is that distance between the wheel center cap and the wheel arch it not the same in the four corners (some the difference is not very high but the rear right has is 3cm lower that the others)

I use the car only for traveling and I don´t use it offroad

The distance has to be the same in the four corners? I mean that the correct suspension calibration should be the four corners with the same distance between the wheel center cap and the wheel arch?

then my other question is regarding the OBD Tools. I`ve seen that the one to go for is the IDD Gap, but as I don`t think I will be using it for more things that resenting the service warning and calibrate the suspension.

Is it usual that the suspension needs to be calibrated?
Is there any other tool cheaper than the IID that could allow me to calibrate de suspension?

I hace to say that suspension holds the sir properly and the difference between corners is the same even if I lower or rise the suspension. and I can leave the car for days parked and all corners stay still (none of the go down)

Thank you 2012 Range Rover 4.4 tdv8 Autobiography

Bite the bullit and get the IID the non blue tooth version is cheaper and often come up second hand and switch the licence over. It will do what you want and save you loads during your ownership.

There maybe others but i only use the IID.

First time I've seen this info. Had to rush out and measure mine and it's spot on to the mm. Something not to worry about now. 2011 Vogue SE TDV8

GAP IID Tool

I used the gap IID BT tool to recalibrate mine after changing the front air bag. It guides you through each corner with the measurements required from centre point of the wheel to the underside of the wheel arch, you can manually adjust up or down on the app screen (I just used a tape measure to get it to the required height).

Even on a perfectly flat surface each corner can be +/-10mm before teh system will adjust unless it's in a special tight tolerance mode' as this prevents excessive compressor operation. Front are also 10mm higher than the rear ( allegedly to offset nose dive / weight transfer under braking). Well worth getting the GAP IID tool as the guided calibration procedure is very quick and easy. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

Tips- measuring accurately from the wheel centre is tricky so measure the diameter of your centre cap and deduct 1/2 that from your calibration height and measure from the top of the centre cap. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

Another tip to measure very accurately. Use some old Center caps. Dremel a little slot in them in the center and then stick a card in them. Makes it very easy to use a laser measure to get an accurate height to the Center.
