Fire Extinguisher

I'm about to fit a fire extinguisher just below the front passenger seat. Before I start drilling and screwing in self tappers, has any one here already fitted one? Any tips before I drill/screw through something I shouldn't.

Thanks

On an 03 you should be able to cable tie the holder (not the extinguisher) to the bar across the base of the seat - at least that's what I did on my 04 when I had it - the newer seats aren't the same Crying or Very sad

Bracket Drawings for Fire Extinguisher

I've just fitted an extinguisher to the factory mounts under the passenger seat.
10 minute job. Very Happy

Just 2 little brackets to match the holes in the bottom of the seat with the holes at the back of the extinguisher holder.

All details and measurements in this A4 page -

(Except for the mount holes thread size - anyone actually know what fits ? Rolling Eyes )

You can fit the BMW X5 kit, it's about £75 for the extinguisher and the mounts (half the price of the LR one) The seat under frames are the same as the BMW X5.

There are already holes in the flat cross bar under there, they're not threaded you just force some 6mm bolts into them (cutting their own thread), that's the official BMW method!

You can also buy the BMW first aid box and mount under the other seat, about £25 from BMW. £50 with the contents. It's identical to the no longer available Land Rover one.

ive used a small 1kg extinguisher, and you only get about 8 seconds, and its empty... so I chose a 2kg one, and fitted it on the rear parcel shelf side panel. I can climb over, from the drivers seat, just, if car is in park, and grab it quickly, or from rear opened door etc. its on a clip mount etc. it only cost £15 too. better to have plenty... than to run out! its very visible too, in case, im not in position to operate it etc.

Has anyone tried fitting a fire stick type extinguisher?

I got one of theses in the other car, but I need it within easy reach of driver in there. Using specialist bracket for that. The fire stick arrived with its own plastic bracket.

You can get some that last 90 seconds, the one in picture is 30 seconds.
