United Kingdom 2005 Range Rover Supercharged 4.2 SC V8 Zambezi Silver
What is my L322 worth?

Sorry guys, I know a lot of people hate these threads, but here goes...

Context:

* 2005 Plate 2006 MY 4.2 Supercharged. Zambezi Silver + Jet Black interior.
* 162k miles
* I paid 2k for this car back in August. The low price was due to various faults - for the purposes of this thread assume they are all fixed to a reasonable/good standard.
* You can get the full low down on the car on my project thread.
* Just checked.... 8 former keepers(!!!!)

I'm kind of wondering what the car is worth with all of the above fixed really and considering the mileage.

The other think I was wondering about was doing a full underside restoration. There is some significant rust in the usual spot around the rear wheel well. To work on this the tank needs to come out... and while i'm at it, i'm wondering should I just pull off all the underside running gear and do a resto on the bits. By this I mean rust removal/treatment and paint.

Would that add much value to it.

I'm likely to do all this anyway, but i'm just curious about what effect these kinds of jobs have on values. It's not a commercial project, but it's always nice to get an idea. With that in mind, the possible value might influence choice of coating such as hammerite paint vs epoxy mastic kind of thing - if that makes sense.

After a very cursory glance on AT - 145k miler is £5k and slightly lower miles edge towards £6/7k.

Could I say that mine would be worth £5-6k, provided demonstration that lot's of niggles etc have ben worked on and the underside resto? Is that a bit optimistic given my mileage?

Tricky one. Given the current Second Hand Market i don't thing £5-6k is unrealistic when you see 3.0 going up for similar money albeit with lower mileage. Will that market last, who knows, with EV's gaining popularity and the next inevitable onslaught of anti ICE brigade.

If its a keeper and why wouldn't it be any SC is a special car, then crack on.

My view is all this type of work helps saleability rather than value especially at that sort of mileage. Anybody looking for an SC will buy the best they can afford. So one that as been looked after ie bodywork and service history is key. If its service history is missing then i would just do enough to keep it on the road and going through MOT's.

Oh and originality always helps maintain value so no bling or wheels!

Hi Snowy,

Oh yes, I forgot that the second hand market is a bit bonkers at the moment.

It has some service history, but I suppose as you are indicating, the car is no show pony, so I guess I just get to a good standard that I would be happy with and enjoy it.

My intention is to keep it original (by putting back the factory wheels) and in a good standard. Once I get it driving i'll see how much I enjoy it and if I can swing keeping it.

Thank you. (07) 2007 3.6 TDV8 L322 - 135k miles.
(05) 2006 MY Supercharged L322 - Zambezi Silver on Jet Black - 162k miles.

** Smiles per gallon - never forget **
