Range Rover 4.4L V8 NO START

Car will NOT start. I took the dash apart cleaned all the fuses inside the central junction box, checked if they were grounded. Did the same in the engine box and the driver side tailgate fuse panel. Then I get 8 faults and was able to clear them ALL except U126, car started up and back up camera worked and transmission shifted normal. Today car will not start and I can not clear these two faults with code reader.

LOST COMMUNICATION WITH STEERING ANGLE SENSOR MODULE U126

By the way, the dealer replaced SAS in February...any ideas or help would be appreciated.

2008 Range Rover L322 4.4L V8 179k miles. I have owned since 100k miles in 2016. Car hasn't started up in 5 months. Dealer claims I need a COMPLETE WHOLE new wire harness.

Did the dealer state why the whole harness should be replaced? Was it because they couldn't get the steering angle sensor to work or did they spot something else wrong?

The steering angle sensor is connected to the ABS ecu. A lot more faults would exists if the ABS ecu wasn't working so it seems to be a problem between the ABS ecu and the sensor.

Lost comms with TCM indicates a fault with the HS canbus. If no other canbus faults then the fault will be somewhere between the gearbox and the point where it connects to the HS canbus, possibly at the main gearbox harness connector.

the dealer jumped the TCM by wiring a red wire in the engine fuse box that If left plugged it caused the battery to drain, they say the wiring that goes to the transmission was bad but I was not clear and did not expect them to Hotwire to get the car to start since the transmission wouldn't shift correctly. I do know why SAS has lost communication. The dealer ran a red wire from the SAS to the central junction fuse box, when checking fuses I u plugged it and plugged it back in...not sure I put it in the right number fuse slot. Would you happen to know which fuse slot this red wire should go back in? I think it was a blank slot around fuse number 10ish or so??? I will check when I get home and reply back on the specifics.

In regards to lost communication with TCM this thread makes me think continuity is broken from the neutral safety switch to the transmission Module and this could be why the car won't start?

What other faults would be High speed Can bus related, because I do have a faulty electronic parking brake.

If you're not seeing lots of other lost communication faults then there won't be a general canbus fault.

That harness mentioned in the other thread sounds like it could be problematic so some continuity checking needs to be done on that harness.

Im not sure why the dealer installed a red wire from the steering angle harness to the central junction fuse box, but i put it back in fuse 18 like it was before. Now the SAS fault is gone. I still can not clear lost communication with TCM and my battery voltage is coming up at 12.26 volts so I put it on charge overnight.

Any advice and guidance would be helpful!

I only have the wiring diagram for MY10-12 which could easily be different, but mine's SAS's power is sourced from fuse 5 in the passenger fuse panel which gets its power from the ignition relay.
I suspect that your wiring diagrams can be downloaded from the wiki.
