United Kingdom 2012 Range Rover Vogue 4.4 V8 Barolo Black

I have been watching a chap in Germany who restores BMW's he has his MAF sensors reconditioned when he cannot get hold of them new. The company that does them have said cleaning a MAF sensor makes no difference to it at all, when it is out of tolerance it is out and no amount of cleaning restores it. they only way is to referb or replace!!

he routinely replaces them especially on his older cars as part of the engine service process he goes through. 2012 Vogue 4.4 TDV8 - Current

Great thanks. I'm looking to do the same but also DPF coded out but I'm up north so looking for someone reputable.

What's your feedback on the ECU and TCU updates?

Thanks

For me, it’s hard to say if there was much difference. For the ECU I see no difference but I’m having this power loss issue which may mask any changes.
The TCU was done along with the gearbox mega flush. Again, any improvement is lost with the benefits of new oils. Currently driving: 2012 L322 SE Overfinch 4.4 tdv8

Interesting. That’s the first I’ve heard that… not that it means much coming from me Laughing

I’ve swapped my MAF sensors as suggested by GraemeS and will take a drive later to see if there is any change. I also cleaned them again for good measure. Currently driving: 2012 L322 SE Overfinch 4.4 tdv8

Swapping the MAF sensors made no difference so booked the car in at a local garage to check the vacuum pump and lines.

Typical… I took the car for a drive to ensure she was warm for the garage and she drove beautifully. There is a slight dip in power still but if I wasn’t looking for it I wouldn’t have noticed it.
All vacuum tests came back showing no issues and their other visual checks couldn’t find any issues.

Frustrating that I’ve paid for some investigation work and they couldn’t find anything. That being said, at least I know my vacuum pump is good.

I may swap the hoses for new silicone ones just in case there is a slight leak that comes and goes due to engine vibrations??? A stretch I know, but for relatively little effort why not. At 120k on them it wouldn’t hurt. Currently driving: 2012 L322 SE Overfinch 4.4 tdv8

Nothing wasted if you have eliminated something from the list of suspects. I’d log some live data with the GAP tool - MAP and fuel pressure vs rpm. There is also commanded ( ie what the ecu wants) vs actual values which will be useful.
Never noticed a dip on mine but I never go over 2500 rpm……. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

If it helps I recently swapped my vacuum lines using the hose in the link below. I bought 2m of 6mm and 2m of 4mm. Some pipes need to be adapted on one end so what worked well was some silicone spray on the 4mm and push into the 6mm. Then chop it flush, if that makes sense!

Ah, I thought I replied to this??? When I looked the 6mm hoses were out of stock.

I just checked again, and have now ordered the hoses. A little job for this weekend along with tracking down an accessory belt chirp. Currently driving: 2012 L322 SE Overfinch 4.4 tdv8
