CNC cut from CAD ?

Anyone tried to send a file off for CNC cutting?

Seen it on a couple of YouTuber channels.

I'm googling but prices are coming in high.

Cheers Cheers, Greg

It depends on the material you want cutting, what do you have in mind? BMW i3 Electric Car

England 2014 Range Rover Autobiography SDV8 Loire Blue

I looked at that a few years ago, fine if you want 5,000 pieces, if you want two or three it would be cheaper to get them cast in gold.... Shocked

Lots of smaller places in the US offering the service over there at a good price but I couldn't find any here for small quantities...

If you do find one, please let me know... Thumbs Up Pete

Aluminium can be complicated with some lasers, they dont like it.

Try GKR Sheet Metal https://www.gkrsheetmetal.com/

or here for waterjet cutting (gives a very, very smooth cut.

What CAD package are you exporting from? most lasers / cnc etc accept DXF as the import file type.

If you want prototype stuff made from MDF, I can lasercut that for you.

CNC cutting with what / what material?

I sent some dxf files to a local trailer place and had 12 parts cut out of 20mm steel with a high def plasma next day for under £200, the steel cost 90% of that. Ed

Better off laser cutting with sheet, but it also depends on thickness. One of my guys can normally program a machine from a drawing with measurements without much trouble, If its a part you think can be sold to others it can work out better to have 100 made.
