Excessive admin charges

Hi all

I had to update a policy I hold with A Plan last week as I had sold and then bought another Defender. The cost was an additional £8 which I thought was reasonable. What was not reasonable was the £50 administration charge made for changing the details on the policy 😡

I challenged the £50 charge and the chap I was dealing with reduced it to £40 as a gesture of good will….

Shocking eh? For 10 minutes work a £40 charge? £400 per hour…….

Jim

I did the same recently (removed one car, added another) but with an Admiral multi-car policy, as I was able to complete the change online, it was only a £5.50 admin charge, although I did still feel a bit disgruntled given it was me & not them doing the admin!

10 minutes work for £40 is not £400 per hour it's a much more still unreasonable £240 per hour !

Vote with your feet, get insurance elsewhere.

I’ve found that if you challenge hard enough the admin costs goes away or is negligible. Adding some data to a system isn’t £50 or £40….
