The new battery for the remote has arrived.

Installed it and and as if by magic, it all worked on first press.

Seems the remote does indeed need a full 3.0V, and doesn't like a low battery, despite being held directly next to the antenna and still lighting up when pressed. 2015 Range Rover Autobiography 4.4 SDV8

Excellent news Gary. Glad I could help. It stumped me for a while, even when the battery was 2.8V.
