Chaps,

Companion thread now active.

https://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/topic64482.html

Please register your interest there.

EDIT : Apologies - I think perhaps that I initially placed the registration thread incorrectly here in the "In Car Electronics (L322)" section. Now located correctly in "Group Buys". The link above is still good. My thanks to whomever corrected my error. 2011 L322 TDV8 A/b Orkney Grey

It looks like the companion thread has topped out at 9, is that enough to approach the vendor ? TDV8 4.4 2012

Agreed - have been holding back to give folks time to consider.
Will make an approach following the state funeral and associated Bank Holiday.

Chaps,

As we discussed, I made an approach to UAD earlier this week.
This was made via their "Contact" page and in the absence of a published contact number, it was an approach by email.

Matt from UAD responded the following morning requesting vehicle details of interested parties, presumably to establish compatibility. I replied with :

Model
Model Year
Engine configuration
TV Dual/Single View details

and numbers of each.

For information, I did not supply forum member or member location details.

I received the following mail from Laura this morning :

Hi Warwick,

Thanks for your email.

I can create a voucher for the forum - a £35 unique discount code for the forum members. With the voucher method, then everyone can purchase on their own and receive the product directly to their home. This seems to me the best method. Please let me know your thoughts and I will get the voucher code set up for you ready for everyone to purchase.

Kind regards,
Laura

The discount offered is not huge, but at 6% is not bad either.
What do we think of the proposed mechanism for implementation ?

I would suggest that it would perhaps not be an unreasonable expectation on the part of the vendor that the forum might implement a measure of security in respect of the offered forum code. Should UAD come to suspect its use outside FullFatRR membership, they might decide to withdraw it.

One possibility - the code might be secured to the Wiki (if deemed appropriate) ? Or perhaps some other mechanism ? Just a thought.

Perhaps forum admins and/or moderators could comment/advise ?

Good work Warwick! And thanks for taking time to do this.

6% is an “okay” discount in my view although I was hoping for 10%.

I like the voucher code method as it means we can all act at our own pace and it doesn’t burden any one individual with admin/distribution or potential blame for any mistakes or miscommunications.

I agree that the voucher code should probably go in an area of the forum accessible to regularly contributing members…. something similar is done for the “for sale” topic on here.

Thanks again, Steve. TDV8 4.4 2012

Thanks Steve,

Yes, 10% would have been a really good outcome.

But I think we need to consider the wider context in that we've managed to accumulate a total of 11 members confirming interest only - including you and myself. And that took just over two weeks. Had we managed rather more then UAD might have looked on our approach with greater favour.

As it is I suspect they're hedging their bets - hoping perhaps that over time their association with FullFatRR may come to accrue further sales.

I do need to respond to the offer from UAD quite soon.
So I am hoping that others among our peers will soon respond positively to the deal on the table.

Sadly this effort seems to have run out of steam folks.
So closing this off now.

My thanks to all those who offered their support.

Sadly I'm afraid not.

There was only one response to my post about ten days ago detailing the discount code offering from Unique Auto Developments - see above.
Nevertheless, following this I did respond to UAD confirming our interest.

But I'm afraid they have not responded.
And so I believe the opportunity has passed.

Sorry.

I did. Take your time with it, especially when you get the unit out to install the new ribbon board. It is a bit fiddly but do-able.
Mine took around 8 hours but that was with head scratching which would otherwise not have happened as the video posted is very helpful!
