Had a 4.2 SC RRS.

Bit the bullet and got a 169k Vogue(thought it was an SE tbh but ah wells) 4.4 TDV8 2011.

Drove it home and just literally wafted through the roads.

Got a few issues to fix but the interior looks brand new tbh.

Will defo be getting some kind of Android Head unit.

Need to see why the diesel preheater isn't kicking in.

1 fault code for egr temp sensor or something. also something else dpf related.

I take it i need to Waxoyl the crap out of it all? it was owned near the seaside and you can tell the upper boot is all rusted.

Tailgate is just the poor quality steel Tata make... get an early pre 2005 tailgate they are usually fine...

Not keen on Waxoyl myself, they are trading on the name and haven't done any product improvement in decades, I found it dried up and cracked letting water in...

Plenty of others around, I like the Dinitrol brand...

Pop the sill covers off and check at the rear, that's where they start rusting... Pete

got a suspension fault when lowering it into access mode so am guessing the valve solenoid is shot.

i for some reason have a spare one from a rebuild for my RRS.

also says service now, am guessing it needs the general oil/plugs/filters?

gotta see about getting Bodsy about flushing the gearbox. Its actually a sport

Suspension could be a blocked filter, does it try to go up after you lower it..? Pete

No it doesn't. Thats what my RRS does.

It just suspension fault and disables the suspension. Then the code i can't quite remember but something along the lines of it can't vent.

So it seems best to just rebuild the compressor and valve blocks. Its actually a sport

I have exactly the same problem 😂 4.9 V8 and 4.4 TDV8. The 4.4 is the economical daily driver 🤷🏽‍♂️

FBH might just be low battery. If you can connect it to a trickle charger to get the battery topped up then try the FBH it may just eliminate that if it works.

Ah does the fbh have its own battery? I'd thought it woulda used the cars tbh but makes sense.

Sorry I meant the main car battery.

Certain parameters need to be met to allow it work, one being car battery levels and the other being ambient temperature.

Quite a few threads on here about FBH about removing fuse to reset aswell of it's failed to ignite 3 times.

My simple thought process of elimination would be to try the FBH with a fully charged car battery first, first thing in the morning, then start working from there.

Ah I see, that migjt be a good shout because when I picked car up it needed a jump so worth seeing batt level at morning.

Will it heat the cabin? Or does it just warm the engine so when I turn it on its instant heat? Its actually a sport

That's perfect ta. now it's parked just outside the house ill give it a property test tomorrow. I'll turn it on and give it a good 30mins to work. Its actually a sport

Turns out the fob just needed a new battery.

The light was flashing red when I pressed it. With a new battery it's now green.

Next mystery is my lower tailgate is a bit... Odd. One strap is shorter than the other so the tailgate doesn't sit flat.

Easy fix.

Also hopefully bodsy will be round in new year for gearbox.

Ordered a full service kit which I'll do most. I'll add the diffs and torque converter as well.

Anything else I need to sort?

Oh under the drivers dash, there's a clicking when heating comes on. Said someone broke a fin or something. I'll see if I cba tearing it all down for.

There is always a long list but not everything needs doing. My advice for any new purchase like this is to get it thoroughly inspected by an indy LR specialist so you know what you are in for. If you have bought from a dealer you also have some legal rights for them to sort it out if they find anything major. The advantage of the 4.4 is nothing major goes wrong with them like previous models but now they are old and high miles many smaller items fail and can add up to big £££ over time. With the mileage you have bought at you may however find that a lot of these items have already been replaced but a thorough inspection will confirm this. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)
