Agree, I don't think they are there to illuminate, more to warn - hence the white light, which is to indicate a vehicle moving towards you. The L319/320 have the reversing lights outboard so do illuminate the extents better, I do think a better 'night vision' camera would help, I may well see if I can merge the guts of some LED strip lights into the original housings, I'm one of those that doesn't like the look of the 'Powerful' alternatives.

My 2003 Vogue didn’t have a rear vision camera until I added one (very easy to do, so easy I’m surprised it wasn’t done in the factory. The headunit is all set up to take a camera input).

However, the standard reversing lights don’t illuminate very well - at least not for the two aftermarket cameras I’ve tried. Nowhere nearly as good as the factory reversing camera on my wife’s 2009 Forester.

The small LED flood light tends to overpower the camera I have fitted. Ron B. VK2OTC

Re the earlier post with photos, what is really needed are photos taken looking backward (from inside the vehicle with the upper tailgate open?).

However, you can't take the pix with a phone. You have to use a real camera with manual settings. Don't let the camera use automatic exposure if you want to compare the illumination. Ron B. VK2OTC

I had a crack in one of my original lights and these were cheaper for a pair than just one original lamp, that's why I used these.
Like has been said, reverse lamps are basically to warn others you are reversing.
Any add on reverse lights would look out of place.

Ordered a pair of Powerful uk last night with Mrs V8’s approval.

Took next door neighbour a takeaway and backed into our drive in the dark, left foot braking to see where we were going!

I'd really like to improve the reversing lights as well, but I just think these 3-ring lights cheapen the look of the car or I'd be on them in a flash.

May have to try some better bulbs or butchering a set of original lights to make my own if I can find a cheap pair to experiment with.

Ordered a set from Powerful late on Thursday night arrived this morning by post! Fitting was straight forward took seal off old lamps and fitted to new ones. Only issue is the cost cutting by Landrover the wiring on the reversing lights is a short as they could get away with, forgot the fun I had when fitting led bulbs a few years ago. Ended up taping over the exposed connector and fitted them in.

Working fine lighting is much improved when using mirrors but they just highlight the deficiencies of the rear view camera, Mrs V8’s Kia has a much better camera .

Anyone know if an upgrade is available? Or is it the screen?

I think it goes back to the days where fog & reversing lights were add-ons, usually a pendant fixing on or below the bumper, reverse light on the left, fog on the right, they've kept it that way ever since, the old stick-in-the-mud's!
