Fitting a DPF sensor to my L322 4.4tdv8

Question on the above title, has anybody got any video's or links to threads on fitting the DPF sensor?

I tried to fit one on my 4.4 TDV8 and the old one snapped off as I was trying to get it out. Big Cry

Ended up getting a garage to sort it for me. 2012 TDV8 Autobiography Baltic Blue

It’s in the Wiki if it’s P040D code that you’re trying to get rid of on the diagnostic.
Nearside exhaust manifold location. Bitch to get to. I got a specialist to do it who has done hundreds 2011 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE Buckingham Blue with Ivory and clear glass = "Rory"
New Defender D300 90 on order so "Rory" will be going to a new home....!
1974 Series 3 Lightweight = "Millie"

It's P244b-68 (28 ) is the code I'm aiming to get rid of.

The other code that came up was U0405-68 (2A)

The codes I had were PO42D and PO40D and these were the sensor in the manifold and the sensor between the Cat and the DPF.

Not sure what your codes relate to, hope you manage to sort it though Thumbs Up 2012 TDV8 Autobiography Baltic Blue

I you guys talking about P040D, dont call it DPF sensor. This temperature sensor not related to DPF at all. Its EGR inlet temp. sensor. According readings from this sensor EGR operate the flap inside it, send exhaust gas through heat exchanger or around it (bypass).

Have you looked these up in the DTC folder (with many sub chapters to review) of the Workshop Manual?

P ones looks to be sensor and the U ones look cruise control module signal related.

You could end up throwing the parts catalogue at it Whistle

Totally agree. The code the OP has found is not this sensor as you point out Bow down 2011 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE Buckingham Blue with Ivory and clear glass = "Rory"

Thanks for the links & suggestions. After reading the links I've found out how to reset the reading from the DPF after fitting the sensor!

So in my simple learnings from fitting this sensor:

1. Buy genuine - I have no intention of fitting another one again or wasting money on doing it twice
2. Make sure you have two clips to replace the ones that feed into the sensor - see attached photo where I've circled it
3. I was wondering how to reset the DPF readings, after DrRob suggested checking the Workshop Manual I found this explanation on how to reset it: NOTE: If a new diesel particulate filter pressure sensor or hose lines have been installed or incorrectly routed, or any pressure sensor circuit repairs carried out, the engine control module must learn and store the new diesel particulate filter pressure sensor offset value. The following conditions must be met to allow the diesel particulate filter pressure sensor offset value to be learnt and stored: Using the manufacturer approved diagnostic system, clear DTCs from engine control module, then monitor the datalogger signal 'sump oil temperature - measured' ensuring a minimum of 50 degrees C is achieved. Start engine, run above 500rpm for 2 minutes, then a further 30 seconds at idle. Ensure the engine cooling fan is not running. Set vehicle in park and set ignition status to off. Wait 30 seconds for the engine control module to power down, learn and store diesel particulate filter pressure sensor offset value. This process must be carried out six times, to allow a large negative offset value to adapt back to 0 Hpa

* Caveat - I'm not a mechanic and nor do I claim to know too much. I'm operating on learnings & advice from this forum etc

Does changing the sensor make a difference: YES!
