4.4 TDV8 Top coolant pipe snapped the other connector…

I finally managed to get around to tackling the engine squeal I’ve had for far too long…
So today whilst the weather was acceptable i started dismantling various parts of the car to be able to remove the fan and cowling thereby gaining the access i need.

All well and good… except that whilst taking extra care removing the top coolant pipe without snapping the brittle connector… (like i did last time)

I instead ham fisted the other bloody end! Censored

I’ve tried to remove the pipe inside the top cooler hose and should be able to in time (the broken part inside is brittle), however i need to replace the connector at the other end.

As far as i can tell it is from the Thermostat housing top outlet, which i can buy for around £60 (LR022690). However, the connector is behind a clip suggesting i can simply replace that? If so, does anyone know where i can find one? Currently driving: 2012 L322 SE Overfinch 4.4 tdv8

So I am a little closer to what i need.

The part circled in green is what I need but there is no reference that i can find to its part number or correct description. The pipe it attaches to doesnt seem to come with it. So I am still a little stuck here…

Hoping someone knows where i can get that part from… Currently driving: 2012 L322 SE Overfinch 4.4 tdv8

It’s not available as a separate part. You have to buy the whole unit that sits on the top of the thermostat housing. It’s out of stock everywhere and unlikely to be available anytime soon. Best bet is to get something made or make it yourself. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

I think you'll find the whole assembly needs to be purchased (8592A), that's what I did for mine.

I subsequently found that fuel line connectors seem to be similar so perhaps you could find one if not in too much of a rush.

Search

fuel line connector types

and look at the images

You could perhaps make a bend up as a temp repair from some form of tube or even a full replacement length of hose.

edit......... as above not currently available. Cheers

Cheers guys for the feedback. Indeed the assembly unit doesn’t appear to be available. Very frustrating.

However a quick search for “fuel line connectors” did yield some promising results!

I need to measure to ensure I get the right one, but now know they are bundy connectors! That may be a suitably easy fix Thumbs Up Currently driving: 2012 L322 SE Overfinch 4.4 tdv8

Something along these lines if the hose sizes are correct.

Cheers for that rjff

I’ve pulled the snapped male out of the hose, and finally removed the piece that had snapped inside the female connector (that was a ball ache).

My intention was to use the existing female with the new male, and you 2nd link with the elbow looks to be the right size to do just that …and if not I can at least replace my current female with the new one!

By my measurements the current male is between 7-9mm (inner to outer measurement) so assume that’s classed as an 8mm connector. Currently driving: 2012 L322 SE Overfinch 4.4 tdv8

Bit of brass or Ali tube and some jubilee clips would seem to be a practical replacement for that bit of plastic 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

As requested (albeit later than intended) the replacement clip worked perfectly! The only minor difference is the double disc of the original (which clips into a bracket) vs the single disc of the new one… but if you leave a slight gap where the hose meets the disc it slips into the bracket.

All in all a quick and cheap replacement Thumbs Up

Cheers jayk69. Another simple fix, however I prefer the flip method I used simply to allow me to remove the top pipe without issue in the future. Especially if the plastic get brittle over time and decides to snap when needing to separate it! Currently driving: 2012 L322 SE Overfinch 4.4 tdv8

im pretty sure I've seen this part used by others... check actual sizes, i guessed 1/4 pcl... its common on car workshop airlines. and easy to buy on eBay too. you screw in the male to the main body, and warm the plastic pipe and slide over the other end
, or clamp.
