service components

My service light has just come up on the dash but disappears when I move off. There are other posts here that discuss ways of turning the light off but I am wondering what this " service " would consist of ?

I've had my 2011 year 4.4 L322 just over one year ( 72,000 miles when purchased ) since which time Ive had complete gearbox and diffs service, new oil cooler ( no surprise there ) new air con. condenser fitted as well as the fuel tank gauge sender " fix".
Also oil and filter changed 500 miles ago which I intend to repeat every year or about 6000 miles which is my normal annual mileage. I also renewed the fuel filter due to a leak through ill fitting by the previous owner.

My question is are there any important service items that I need to consider at this stage and mileage and would they be possible DIY jobs ? I'm just at 78,000 now.

Suggestions very welcome.

Love this car ! RR owner

Easy DIY jobs …
Change both air filter elements and the cabin pollen filter.
Also I always clean the MAPT sensor at the same time as oil and filter change.

Who did the last service? Clearly not reset the service interval by sound of it Rolling Eyes Needs doing as the DPF uses it to calculate stuff once oil is changed. Oil dilution calculations etc.

Remove rear wheel arch liners and sill covers. Treat any rust, wax inside sill cavities and coat the arch with wax before refitting liner. Sams Motor and Machine YouTube show it and there is one from Matt at Range Rover Owner. 2011 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE Buckingham Blue with Ivory and clear glass = "Rory"

If you have owned it for a year? Could this be the service counter simply clicking over 365 days since it was last reset? By the last service technician? I'm assuming you didn't reset the counter when the engine service was carried out?

A brake fluid flush due to the age of the car would be a good idea but it's not a straightforward DIY job ( do a search on the forum) especially if the front bleed screws are seized in the callipers through galvanic corrosion. Any preventative rust protection is worthwhile if you are keeping the car but probably best done in the warmer months. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

Thanks everyone, all useful comments.

Spot on I think DrRob, the service was completed by the garage at the time I bought the car.

Baltic Blue, please what is the MAPT and where is it on the car ?

Forgot to say I changed air filters shortly after purchase and the old ones looked brand new so sign of a good service I think. RR owner

MAPT is Manifold absolute pressure and temperature sensor.
It is in the front top of the plenum manifold.
It gets really coated in black sooty gunk and causes restricted performance alarms eventually if it gets blocked.

AFAIK It’s just pressure ‘MAP’ - the IAT ( intake air temperature) is a separate sensor infront of the throttle plate and egr inlet which stays clean 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

Logically temp data is needed in the plenum as EGR gasses are being added. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)
