Can you fit a towbar with a design kit rear bumper??

I have a 2012 tdv8 with the design kit fitted (deeper rear bumper with exhaust tips). I would like to fit a towbar so that I can use my cycle rack.

Has anyone fitted a tow bar whilst having the design kit rear bumper? Ideally I would like some sort of detachable towbar if possible.

Picture attached showing my rear bumper for reference

Hi,

This white example has one fitted, so it's do-able. This looks like a flange version though as opposed to a detachable one, but it's not too obtrusive.

You could try Westfalia, they seem to be the go-to people for Land Rover, they should be able to tell you what you need.

I fitted one to mine it does not affect the bumper, I fitted the Westfaila with the swan neck it also will take the farmers hitch.
You have to remove the small cover underneath when in use (two plastic screws with a coin) when not towing put it back to keep it tidy Thumbs Up 2017 SDV8 4.4 silicon silver AB

I had a similar set up to Tinman on my 2012. The differences were: the underbody cover had 4 screws not two; it had to have a significant sized U shape cut out of it to fit around the swan neck receiver; fitting/removing the cover required laying down on the floor - and its always wet! You can just about see the u cut in this

Also worth bearing in mind that the swan neck towball is not that far from the rear bumper. OK for my plant trailer, but the car trailer needed all of the available gap so I had to tape over that part of the bumper to stop scratches/damage as I took it on/off. I know some bike racks have some engineering around the hitch point so worth checking how much room you need from ball to bumper to get the thing on and off. All fine once attached. Protective tape in place

Mpx îs right about the four screws and also about cutting out the plastic cover which is defined by a line on the underside, if memory serves me it was a faff taking the cover off because that was where the electrics are mounted Big Cry
I changed my swan neck type to the Farmers type so that I could extend the electrics to the plate save laying under the car.

When finished towing pulled the Farmers hitch off and disconnected the extension electrics
put the cover back on.

I did buy a spare cover so it did not notice. 2017 SDV8 4.4 silicon silver AB
