Mine is due to have the filter changed, 65k 2017MY.

I understand that I need to replace the reservoir/expansion tank as the filter is built in. Do I need to change the fluid also?

My tech is worried it will need bleeding and apparently you need special tool to do so which he does not have. There is a manual way round this but unsure if it is even required.

You can syringe out the fluid from the reservoir tank, which will then let you undo the pipes to the tank to remove it without too much leaking. Replace the tank and refill, letting it sit for few mins so that any air in the pipes will rise back up to the tank to bleed. Run engine for couple of minutes. Let it sit again, and check the level again. That should be it.

The system can be thought of in 2 parts. One part having the reservoir, pump and valve block which generates the high pressure in the system, the second part having the valve block output and the anti-roll bar doodahs. The valve block controls the high pressure fluid generated by the pump and whether it goes through to the rollbars to control roll. At standstill, it shouldn’t be trying to control roll, so wont open the valves.

As long as you leave fluid in the pipes you disconnect the tank from, then after refilling and running the engine, just that first part of the system will re-circulate and purge air out of that first section, and on air should be passed through the valve block to the second part.

It’s the second part that supposedly needs bled in a particular way using a diagnostic tool if you get air in to it … but there are some on here who have worked on the second part and not needed any special tools.

The L322 has the separate ace filter, does the 2016 L405 have a filter integrated within the reservoir? The linked file shows a light shining through the tank, my reservoir has a baffle just below the oil level so the integrated filter comment does seem to be correct.

It is an important question to clarify as replacing the reservoir is around £150 whereas the separate oil filter is around £20.

Does anyone have the LR part number for the reservoir?

Yes the whole tank and filter is 1 item when I got mine changed last year p/n was LR072550

JLR have confirmed that p/n and I've ordered a new (filter incorporated) reservoir along with 2l of STC50519.

Seeing the entire reservoir is changed I plan on pulling the outflow and return hoses and coupling the inlet to a pressurised oil filler to pump around the new fluid displacing the current oil in a catch bottle.

It wasn't on my 2008 L322 but I assumed it was an optional extra since there is a tube video on the ACE setup in a 2006-2009 Range Rover Sport. They did say it was an optional fit.

Yes, it was fitted to the L320 Sport, but not to the L322 during its life. 2012 (L322) 4.4TDV8 Vogue SE, RSE, Fuji White over Arabica.
