I have a slightly different lower tailgate problem.

The rubber either side of the lower tailgate controls the opening /closing check if its intact. 2017 SDV8 4.4 silicon silver AB

You are right, -if they were activated by closure, it would be the same as an obstruction, and open the gate. Not the desired result! |
