Have you tried pressing and holding the suspension button down to lock, that should bong and that should lock in lowest position? Always works for me.

I always jack mine up from access height, and never have had any issues.

I've heard various things over the years, hazard lights on, boot open & a door open was the most popular. Others have said just a door open will stop any levelling.

My Wife's P38 self levels whenever it feels like it, even after hours of being switched off. Not sure if they carried this curious feature on to the 405 but I always lock mine in access and it seems to behave.

Jack height / reach isn’t the problem for me. Ideally I would like to be able to park up in off-road height, jack one corner to get the wheel off, and all other corners remain in off-road height.

The Classic and P38 wake up every few hours and level. I believe the idea is that if there is a slow leak, the car remains level rather than down in one corner.
