I might be scrapping the old girl

As it is not selling, no one wants a 4.2sc petrol no one. Yes it's 20 years old now and needs a few things done it also has a stack of paperwork from previous owners through the years but goes for nothing.
Most people Inc me are just mainly concerned about mpg and that's understandable. And 12-15 about doors and local just doesn't cut it now.
Yes they are nice to drive etc etc but they are expensive to keep especially the petrols and I am finding that out.
If i do get another one i will probably go back to diesel, i was staying away from it because of egr's, turbos, injectors etc but doesn't look like it if i would like to stay with an old RR.
Oh well such is life..

Once again it just shows with all the replies folk know what I'm talking about. Big engined petrols are simply a bloody joke in this country.
It will end up getting scrapped or sold for stupid money then whoever buys it will also realise fk this mpg I'm selling.

I think Mikey is potentially a buyer if you share details of your advertising with him, then you could get a buyer?

We all have our own drivers and constraints so I get that MPG is important to some - but not for many of us, so I totally disagree about big petrol being a joke. We're talking about expensive cars costing well over £100k new - not some mile munching city hatch. Lucky you eh..
It's not that i can't afford the fuel, it kind of annoys me that's all. And it obviously annoys buyers because I still have it.

I don’t think it’s just mpg that’s putting people off these.
Any RR outside of manufacturers warranty has the potential to be a money pit.

Engine, suspension, electrics to name but a few often need constant attention.

Throw in high tax and insurance and Land Rovers legendary reliability record and you can see why many people are put off.

Reading that I can’t believe I’ve had been buying them for 30 years

That's right i just didn't say all that, mine is "cheaper" tax but the rest applies.

Ahhh. OK, so a totally different point being made to what I thought. Looks like we agree. Its not really about large engine petrol fuel costs specifically its that Fattys are in general more expensive to own/maintain than many other cars and that puts buyers off. Absolutely right.

Many of us within the FF community consider the 4.2SC to be one of the high point versions, so there should be some demand, but maybe there's something specific to your car that is putting people off. Best of luck with the sale. Mike - MPx

I agree that it's not the MPG that will be putting off buyers, if it was then no petrol Range rovers would ever sell. Diesels doing short trips and cold starts can easily stay on the wrong side of 20MPG as well.
If you're not getting any enquiries then either you're asking too much or advertising in the wrong places.
If you are getting enquires but no offers then again you're either asking too much or there's something amiss with your car, no serious buyer will be suprised that a 2.5T car with the aerodynamics of a house brick, fitted with a supercharged V8 uses a lot of petrol.
Everything will sell but only for the right price.

I am getting offers off 800-1000

200000 mot April fault suspension
Hdc light on (steering angle sensor seemingly)
Slight miss on idle

Maybe it is only worth 1000 of that is the case then muggins here paid to much as usual.
