What year did this very useful feature get removed

I’ve been looking for a newer L405 but none seem to have this opening pocket, useful for sunglasses etc but they don’t seem to have it

It's no longer on MY18 onwards. They have a single compartment under the cupholders instead. Only Range Rovers since 1988

This space is inaccessible with cups in the holders and the cup-holder tray doesn't stay still when refitting a cup. IMO its only good for a secret hideaway, not for general use. L405 D350 SE Carpathian Grey D5 19" rims

They lost the door compartment with the 18my when they put the larger seats in and the seat controls moved from the squab to the door cards 2021 L405 Vogue SE 4.4 V8 DIESEL ~ #17

I never understood that, it was change for changes’ sake IMHO.
To me, it sems intuitive to “feel” the switches on the seat in exactly the same orientation as the seat and back cushions, so logical which way to press the switches which mimick the cushion positions, and so much so, it is possible to safely adjust your seat slightly “on the fly” as you drive, -something impossible whilst staring at the switches on the door with 3rd-person perspective: ill-thought in my opinion, and pointless. Moreover, in my opinion, relocating the seat controls did not interfere with that compartment. If you remove the panel covering it—which is quite easy—you can see that there's nothing inside. Perhaps it was simply a cost-cutting measure.

Don't know if it works for the post 2018 but powerfulUK do a conversion to put it in lower spec early ones... Thumbs Up

Maybe it's just a small mod to make them fit...!! Pete

That's good to know - the lack of this feature is a bit of a deal-breaker for a newer L405 for me.

By the way, those beautifully crafted 27cm Samsonite brollys (SKU 108979-1041) with proper real grained wood handles are still available for £39 each from:

https://www.samsonite.co.uk/wood-classic-s...-1041.html

Reassuringly expensive yes, but they just fit like a glove, er brolly in there, and oh-so-handy for that sudden Summer downpour when neither of you bothered to take a coat. And self-erecting too, and let’s face it at the average FFRR owners’ age, that’s an er, enormous benefit! Laughing

I’ve had both and would rather have the centre console cubby under the cup holders - it’s got more useable space, it is lit and has a charging port / power supply in there.

It easily holds a Swiss Champ, multi tool, large LED Torch, wallet, cheque book, coin pouch and other paraphernalia.

The door storage is limited to long thin items - give me the console storage everytime - plus the door mounted seat controls are far easier to see and use 2021 L405 Vogue SE 4.4 V8 DIESEL ~ #17

No it doesn't as it says;

'Which vehicles will this fit?

This item WILL fit the Range Rover L405 models from 2013-2017

This item WILL NOT fit the Range Rover L405 models from 2018 -2021.'
