Brake flaring tool specifications for 2012 TDV8 Westminster

I wonder if anyone can confirm the size/type of brake flare tool required on a 2012? I suspect it's 3/16 pipework and a 4.75 DIN flare but thought best to check first.

Just discovered some brake fluid on the drive and it's coming from the steel pipe that crosses above the rear subframe to the OSR brake flexi, about six inches in from the union with the flexi. Don't know if it's just corrosion or if its taken a hit from something thown up by the tyre. I know the easy way is to cut the last few inches and join in a new piece of pipe, but it's probably best to form and fit a whole new pipe to connect under the nearside rear sill. I'll probably end-up doing all the rear pipes while I'm in there. The older I get, the more I realise that people confuse wrinkles for wisdom Smile

It’s standard size stuff, and it will be corroded, so better to replace it all.

Not the worst of jobs iirc. I did both rears when mine went. I made a section to go across the top of the rear subframe and then another section to run along the sill to the front wheel arch area. V8 or else ...

Here is a link to Joe90's guide to the brake lines, I did mine, a 2010 facelift a couple of months ago and it is a brilliant guide.

It is a 4.75 DIN flare, make sure the new fittings you get are 4.75 DIN otherwise you will have to have another flare tool.

Here is a link to a video I made.

around time stamp 7.18 is a bit about the flare tools I used.

FFRR has DIN flares and fittings, at the time, I got away with using SAE flarings (I now have a DIN flare tool). .

Thanks for the comments chaps!

I've got 25ft of Kunifer coming, along with a cutter, bender, flaring tool, terminations and numerous bleeding devices etc.

Was under the car yesterday and replaced the propshaft. Might as well do everything I can while all the bits and pieces are off. Getting the fuel tank cover off is a job in itself. The brake pipe is a 'one piece' from the front wheel arch all the way to the o/s/r. The older I get, the more I realise that people confuse wrinkles for wisdom Smile

Did you take any pictures of the fuel tank cover that you can share?
Lots of L405 posts but never seen L322 cover, just wondering is it similar to and does it actually support the tank.
Thanks

I’ve just finished replacing my front to back hard lines with braided lines having done quite a bit of research on them. The advantage is that the flexibility of braided lines means that you avoid having to drop the subframe or make up any din flares.

I’ll post a full write up in the next few days with all the info. for those considering brake line replacement.

With the fuel tank cover; the trick is to drop the front down first so that the cover clears the two threaded spigots adjacent to the prop shaft and then when the cover has dropped rotate it laterally so that the front goes in toward the prop shaft and the back squeezes past the rear subframe mount.

A bit of elbow grease is required but I didn’t have to fight it !

Sam’s motor and machine just posted a useful video that includes brake line replacement here : https://youtu.be/ET8b2JXhD0o?si=VkbNMYB1JUJcrj-A TDV8 4.4 2012

There are some pictures, in place and off the car in my brake pipe guide. No it does not support the tank. .

Took a couple of photos for you Mike. Gave it all a wash first - not just for aesthetic purposes - it was to avoid filling my eye sockets with dust and crap when it comes to re-installing them! The cover is what it says - a cover! The tank has a separate securing strap and the cover doesn't support the tank in any way.
