I was thinking of catching the ferry and doing a tour of S Ireland in June. Neither myself or my wife walk so it will just be driving, two questions

1. Whats the best map/maps
2. Anywhere a must visit

One of my mates recommended the Dhulough pass road (R335) although he did start from Westpoint co Mayo

I'm still not sure on distances so where to book hotels etc Geoff

We've booked the first night in Dublin, then we will just wing it and see what is close when we have had enough for the day, done it all over Europe with no great issue...  Pete

It was a nice trip but it rained for 8 out of the 7 days we were there, it was also too bad a sea for the speedy ferry home, we went Club class which is well worth the extra...

Fuel is about the same as here, interesting to see petrol is more than diesel there, like it used to be in this country...

We set the sat nav to avoid tolls and motorways and the scenery was lovely, we don't walk far either but found some nice roads to see the proper Ireland...

Found last minute hotels no bother, some better than others... We did a last minute Airbnb for a couple of days and the view was nice, if wet....

Michelin map 712 was fine for me. Roads regarded as scenic are shown with a green line beside them.

We were fishing on the Blackwater in the Lismore area which was pleasant. I've also motorcycled round the coast of N Ireland and into Donegal and as far as Sligo, some nice views there too. Not enough experience of the south/west coast to recommend anything there. Only Range Rovers since 1988
