The BMW based cars do not have a touchscreen at the front. If yours doesn’t, your only option is to buy a BMW Mk 4 sat nav unit. It will look like your existing one but will say DVD in white on the front. You won’t be able to go newer than that as the data network it uses is different.

yes it is very poor form for lots of these ebay sellers to be selling DVD units that are not MK4, they are older MK3 CD units, I guess they are hoping to catch people out, or they just don't care and assume all the Range Rover units are DVD ones

Result there then. Think v32 is the latest firmware BMW offered. There are videos on the net about how to change the splash screen and firmware etc.

I have the Land Rover splash screen file. I updated mine from the BMW splash screen of the Mk 4 using a file from one of the members here. Sorry, his name escapes me at the moment. It’ll come to me later. |

I know I'm a few years behind but not late. But was wondering where to get the file to update splash screen to range rover instead of bmw? |

I might actually have my custom built ROM flash on a cd somewhere. It has the new RANGE ROVER logo and on the menu it has been edited to display JLR Assit instead of BMW. I can search my stash and see if you're lucky.

That would be great. But I don't know how well a European map would do here, in the states. |

The ROM disc and the map disc are two different things. So as far as firmware is concerned, you will be okay. I'm also sure there is a regional DVD for the Americas out there... |

Yes. You're right. I dont know what I was thinking. So the splash screen is the only thing I want to change. But. What is that JLR for? Never heard of that. |

The JLR stands for Jaguar -Land Rover. I just couldn't have BMW on the screen all the time so I edited the text. Of course there is no such thing as JLR assistance but there will always be a JLR product IN NEED of assistance |
