The transmission on my new SV s not as smooth as my old 4.4 so planning on a transmission service.
Car has full dealership history but it’s not been done and at 60k it’s probably worth doing.
What sort of a job is it to do?

A simple drain and refill is fairly straight forward on the ZF boxes. But afaik changing the filter is trickier as you have to drop the transmission crossmember. To get the pan filter off. Definitely worth swapping the fluid out.

If it was me I’d get some cheaper but in spec fluid, and flush the box for a few hundred miles, then do a couple of changes with good quality oil at which point you will have got the bulk of the old oil out. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Thanks for that, is there no way an air line would push the oil out the cooler and tubes?

The issue you have is the cooler is thermostatically controlled and opens at 82*C so you can’t just ‘blow’ the oil through the cooler. The only way to do a full flush is with a machine, otherwise it is just a case of drain and refill and a short drive before repeating a few times to get almost all the oil changed.
