After reading the horror stories about rusty drains leading to water ingress and control unit failures, I thought I should check mine…

It’s obvious that someone has been here before - note the big blob of silicon holding the front of the trim!! Where I expected the drain to be, looks like it’s been blocked off.

The car has always been looked after by the main dealer, so presumably this was their solution…?

Does anyone know the part number for the clip that should hold the front of the trim down?

Evening Sullivj,

I would say be very careful, if the drain points are blocked up, then when it rains heavy, the gullies will get full, it will fill up, and who knows where water will go!

Depending on how you park, either level or on a gradient, I think that may push water in places you don't want it too.

And beware, when you either stop or pull away you will leave a trail of water either down the back of the car or if your window is open all over the interior and you.

I would say best to investigate before winter and get the drain points working, now you know where they are they are easy to keep clean and free, there are many threads on it on here so worth a look, and the fix is pretty easy.

Thanks DRF.

I took a look earlier and both are blocked. Water was pooling in the tray. So I know I need to fix it.

I’ll report back when I have done.

Checked mine last weekend after seeing the horror stories that blocked and rusted drains can cause luckily mine were clear. Got a syringe and a bit of small bore pipe and pumped a load of water down the drains to make sure all clear. Only need to take the black inner roof trim off to expose the drains fully.

These are not the drains, and that’s not the trim that you need to remove. You have lifted the trim that hides the fastenings for roof rails. The next piece of trim nearest to the sunroof is what you need to remove to expose the drains.

Good spot, yes it's the next bit of trim, if you open the roof you should see them.
