i gather this didnt happen before the battery replacement...

disconnect the aux battery [just the negative] and see if this makes any difference. ... - .- -.

This did happen before battery replacement, it caused me to check the battery and I found battery bad, hence the change 07 Vogue SE Java Black 3.6 TDV8

Worth checking your main battery as this also influences the stop start feature. The reason I know this is because my stop start never worked when I bought my car but once a new main battery was fitted it worked perfectly.

Watty,

My 2018 SDV8 has the same symptoms as your car, when the start/Stop kicks in at traffic lights and then when lift off brake the car shuts down, i would have to cycle the engine start button couple of time before the engine starts and then everything works fine.

I’ve sometimes also had problem string cr in the morning…where I get message on cluster saying ‘AEB not available’

Car is under LR warranty So going in May for TCU replacement and hopefully they can sort above problems as well?!

Hi Watty,

I have got the car back today, they said they have replaced TCU under warranty and that has supposedly fixed all the issues I was having.

Only time will tell, I’ve not had chance to check everything today but the issue with Start/Stop and car everything going off…seems to have been fixed.

I tested start/stop at traffic lights on my way back and everything work fine.

But I’ll see how it goes in coming days….

Hi Maher2023

Has the issue returned? My 2019 did this a couple of weeks ago once after being serviced (on the way home). I then had a new main battery fitted and the issue has happened again, after a particularly long auto stop. Most of the time it works fine 2019 MY SDV8 Autobiography in Velocity Blue

Hi BLt,

Touch wood…I’ve not had the issue return since the replacement of TLC. Batteries were not replaced.

Rolling Eyes Stop Start is a total mugs game IMHO, why the hell would anyone want it?
I disabled mine, -why?
Because 90% of engine wear happens during cranking, not to mention wear & tear in the starter gear itself, why risk a failed engine for a few percent better mpg at best?
So turn it off, the next owner may thank you and it doesn’t save a significant amount of fuel anyway.

Impressed this week...

So I called LRA on Monday morning, within an hour a tech was on the drive and within 30 minutes he'd confirmed extended warranty coverage for a starter motor and ordered one for pickup Thursday (this morning) . Also updated the rear diff software to get rid of a 'reduced traction' warning that popped up on start at the weekend.

Came back today, fitted the starter motor in an hour and car given back, all sorted. Much better than messing about at a dealer.

Interestingly, apparently the starter motor is £500 +VAT!
