There seem to be a couple of active threads about underbody restorations so thought I would post mine which is currently ongoing.

I bought my L322 back in Febraury and although not initially keen on the colour it has grown on me. I bought it because it has relatively low miles at circa 100k but has been serviced every year regardless of mileage.





Bodywork was in pretty good shape and only slight corrosion on the rear arches which I got a body shop to repair and to also repaint the rear bumper.

Underneath there was some surface corrosion on the subframes so I have stripped and repainted those but I didnt take any pictures of the process.

I could some corrosion around the jacking points so decided to investigate further.






there was a decent amount of mud in the sill covers!

I really like that colour, I regularly see a 2012 Vogue in Conwy where I live and it always looks good.

I also like the colour, back in the 70's both Ford and Triumph made cars in Bronze and metallic brown, which are rare to see these days st shows, and usually attract the most attention.
Stick with the colour you'll be glad you did (from someone with a Red Range Rover, which are also rare to see.

I ground back the flakey and bubby bits mainly with a wire wheel. Compressed air line came in very handy to blow the remenants away. I then treated it with rust converter and have last night painted it with...

I had the paint tinted in something vaguely similar to the body colour but as you can see it isnt a perfect match but it will be hidden under the car or behind plastic covers. tonight I am spraying it all with Bilthamber Dynax-uc

This is my bank holiday weekend job.

Already treated the inside of the tailgate, which I'll top up again at the same time. I had a quote for the underside at a professional place who specialise in Dinitrol which was £2.5K! As much as I love the L322 that's a bit steep.

Top job, don't forget to put loads of your favourite rust treatment through the drain holes in the tailgate, or pop the trim off and soak everything.....

I left the foam out on fatty offroader with no side effects...!!!

Funnily enough the 405 has them.... I've ditched them as well with no side effects so far...  Pete
