The fault codes are required to get some idea of the possible causes of issues. L405 D350 SE Carpathian Grey D5 19" rims |

Faults such as yours, after a completely flat battery might be related to the steering angle sensor losing its calibration.

Thanks both, I do have the fault codes so I'll post them and also try the steering sensor recalibration. I'll post the codes when I find them. Thanks |

Hi Guys,

The VIN number fault on the ABS module would lead me to think it's not been coded to the vehicle?

So the ABS module was likely changed but not coded correctly?? |

Live values on my diag tool do show the left wheel speed sensor to be faulty but perhaps it is the RHS |

I don't personally know definitively, but it seems very likely according to a Google AI search: AI Overview Yes, the ABS module on an L322 Range Rover typically requires coding or programming after replacement. This is because the ABS module needs to be configured to work with the specific vehicle's characteristics and other control modules. Without proper coding, the new ABS module might not function correctly, leading to errors or malfunctions. Here's a more detailed explanation: Modern vehicles require coding: Many modern vehicles, including the L322, need the ABS module coded or reprogrammed after replacement. Specific configuration: The ABS module needs to be matched to the vehicle's VIN, engine type, and other settings to ensure proper operation. Consequences of not coding: If the module is not coded, it might not communicate correctly with other systems, leading to errors like "ABS Inactive" or "HDC Inactive" messages. DIY options and professional services: While some owners opt for DIY coding using specialized software and tutorials, others prefer to have a professional service handle the coding. Repairing vs. replacing: Repairing the original ABS module is often an alternative to replacement, as it avoids the need for coding the new module according to Module Master. Drive again and go in a circle, that'll tell you which is left and right, as the ECU sees it. The inside wheels will obviously travel a shorter distance and record a slower rotational speed. If it still turns out to be the left front, as you've already tried several speed sensors, it could the reluctor ring is broken / dirty, or it's a wiring issue with the sensor itself. Could even be excessive wheel bearing play. Used to be a very common cause of ABS / TC faults on Disco 2's. Just remembered you said the above, you didn't get the ABS reluctor ring covered in CV grease did you? That'd likely cause a wheel speed mis-reading... It seems doubtful, as you must be quite handy with the spanners to remove the driveshaft and do a CV boot on your own (unless you cheated and used one of the glue together ones! ) ![]() Just wondered if the events are somehow related? If the comms faults regarding the ABS module are the only faults once the speed sensor fault is rectified and everything works then it is possible that the VIN mismatch is all that is wrong and can be ignored. L405 D350 SE Carpathian Grey D5 19" rims |
